Thinking strongly about selling my '83 60. Not sure what to price it at as these trucks seem to be all over the place when it comes to sale prices. Looking for help/suggestions.

Other than the radiator and Iron Man springs and struts, it's pretty much bone stock. 174k miles, 4 speed manual.

This rig has ZERO rust other than some normal/typical surface blemishes on the undercarriage but nothing structural. It has been a California car it's entire life. The Nevada plates and reg are temporary due to some 'disagreement' that has since been settled with the CA DMV. Long story short, the registration expired while it was sitting in Nevada for a couple years and the non-op was 'missing' according to CA DMV. It's been sorted out and I still have the original Blue CA plates for whatever that's worth.

There was some 'filler' behind the Land Cruiser emblem on the passenger side rear quarter. I removed the filler, treated it and just sprayed primer over it. You can see the rust 'damage' in one of the pics (about the size of a silver dollar).

There was surface rust on the roof and near the driver side rear window. I sanded it off and primered the sanded area to keep it at bay and prevent it from potentially becoming a structural problem. This truck is solid and if you can see past the primer and the oxidized paint. There is ZERO rust under the primer. It had a/c but condensor and compressor were junk so were tossed by PO.

Oh yeah, it has new:
-clutch
-OEM water pump
-tires
-all OEM drivetrain seals and fluids
-radiator
-thrmostat
-cooling hoses
-leaf springs
-OEM rims
-tires
-OEM wheel center caps (still in bubble wrap).
-struts
-fuel pump
-heavy duty aftermarket fuel filter
-cap/rotor/plugs (NGK)
-and tons more that I can't recall at the moment.

Comes with a box full of OEM and/or Denso parts for future tune-ups and related maintenance. Also have a brand new clutch/clutch kit in the box that came with the new clutch that is already installed. By 'accident' I failed to notify the e-tailer that they sent me an extra clutch 2 weeks after I had received the first one I ordered. Oops.

The pics I have posted show the worst of the truck. She's a beauty, in my opinion. I'm even thinking of keeping the primered 3-tone look instead of respraying it in the original color (if I don't sell it).

Thanks in advance for your help and suggestions. With your help I can finally give the guy at the gas station a number to buy it. I swear 1 of 3 times I fill it up someone asks me if I want to sell it.

Thanks again!!!

Small ding on rear bumper.
Original jack and tool bag under driver seat.

Considering no rust, this would be a good candidate for a expedition buildup. Just looking at the pictures, I'd go with around 6-7k.

Hahaha! Was gonna be funny and say 20k but then I saw all the different colored panels. What the heck?

All panels are original. Some oxidized more than others. Some buffed out. Some not. The primer 'panels' are explained in original post. However I'll admit I went a little overboard on the rear quarter - was just having too much fun I guess. :) Maybe to make it match I should primer all of it. Haha just kidding.

6-7 seems reasonable.

174k is on the lower side and it looks like a good platform for someone to build up. I’d probably ask maybe $8.5 and see what happened.
I was thinking about the same. However, when I scour the web to see what other comparable rigs are going for... they are going for quite a bit more. That's why I started this thread. I know it's only worth what someone will pay for it but I want to offer it at a fair and competitive price without giving it away. The hard part is that I know whatever I sell it for, I probably won't be able to replace it in the next few years. I'd love to keep it but I have too many vehicles right now and this one would likely be the easiest to sell, not easiest to part with though. I'd consider trading it for a 100 series, and then sell another one of my vehicles so I don't end up where I started - with too many rigs (if there ever was such a thing).

Ask for more. You can always go down to what your comfortable selling it for.
I think its a good looking rig.
Ok, so the right quarter is primer. As long it has no rust your good to go.
If it runs and starts and maintenance has been done it’s a great truck.

Realistically if it has ok compression, little to no rust, decently clean undercarriage, and drives ok it is worth at least 10k. The primer will make it a little harder to sell unless it is to someone that deals in these types of vehicles.

I looked for awhile when buying mine and there isn’t much available under 10k. Even 10k is hard to find.

Not saying it’s a gold mine or anything.. but I wouldn’t give it away or a dealer will get it and flip it.

If it is well sorted it looks like an easy repaint project for someone.

Thanks Joe.

It runs tits. Has zero issues. I've driven it up and back from Sacramento to Tahoe several times and it runs and rides better than I ever expected it would or could. The guy I bought it from is a retired Toyota mechanic who got the rig from his old boss after it had been sitting for something like 9 years. He took his time, 2.5 years (OCD?) dialing it in and it shows when driving it. I was going to 'keep it forever' but my son needs a practical car for college and at 6'10" he doesn't fit in my FJZ80 (as if that were a practical college car anyway). I am trying to sell that rig but nobody seems to be interested and I know I can most likely find a buyer for this one (the 60) pretty quick. I even have a "let me know if you ever want to sell it" guy but I think he just wants to flip it and I'd prefer to find a REAL LC enthusiast that will keep it and not just buy it to make a profit. Wishful thinking?

As far as $10k - that's, as a seller, a fair price in my opinion. I say that because I've seen other 'lesser' rigs go for that price and even more. Unfortunately because my son needs a vehicle I don't have time to wait around for top dollar. Maybe I'll just fire sale my 80. Ugh. :(

I have been on the search for a rust free 60 to start another project. Over all this one is in good shape and what I have seen out there the last couple months and because the miles are low you should be in the $10k-$12K range, with out seeing it that is. The rust free ones are getting rare!
Good Luck ....Timing is off for me as I have one to sell myself.

When i bought my 85 that needed a good bit of maintenance but was really super clean and well preserved I paid 9k and i was in line. Drove 18hrs one way in a short notice to get it and beat everyone thankfully.

10k for that one doesn’t seem unreasonable at all.

I think it is a neat truck. They are all neat to me. Right now the market is up and down. You are honest about it, what it has and what it needs. Shoot for the reasonably high end. It is a buyers market and truly it is only worth what someone will pay you for it. That being said you shouldn't give it away. Post it high enough for negotiation but not so high as to scare first time Cruiser buyers away.

If I can get my Resto/mod sold I would definitely give you $10k. I would swap the engine so the low miles would not be a plus but the rust free makes up for that. I will stay on this thread and see what happens.....Are you in California?
