Southern vehicle with rust?

Frame has no rust. But yeah there’s some on the body.

$1300 ???? Really ???
Think about it. Paint is bad. Rust on lower body panels. You know how much a bodyshop is gonna charge you to somewhat repair and repaint that stuff?

I didn’t even see the quarter panel is bent.

Offer him $800 cash.

May be well maintained but it clearly has lived a tough life. The side that's missing the running board almost looks like it rusted off.
The sides are shiny but the hood tells of tough conditions. if you're going to build something to tear down trails with it might be
just fine, but if you want to clean it up to be a long term driver, hard pass. $4000 max, if it runs perfectly. That's a strange place for a dent too.
And the unknown leak may be why the rockers are rusting, could be a very big can of worms.
Most of us here will encourage you to get a 100 but get the best you can afford base don your intended use.

Mechanically it’s solid. And I’m not looking for a princess. This would be the wet dog, dirty kids, occasional mountain trip vehicle.

I really don’t understand how the body rusted where it rusted. There’s no other rust.

Do the 100 running boards cause any rust problems? To me it looks like he removed it because of the rust.

I appreciate all the comments.

Maybe 3000 if you want a off-road beater truck and don't care about cosmetic stuff I would look at the undercarriage really close has it been coated would be strange to be no rust but have lot of body rust

A good pain job with those dents (no fixing of rust) would be near $4000. A shop who pinted my car asked $3000 for my dent and rust free 97 4Runner.

Those 2 places on the body are the only places with rust ?????
Frame. Axles. No rust. Not painted. Not coated

with a rust free underside if its been serviced buy it if price is cheap cut out the rust put new metal then rhino line the truck if you just want a camping truck
i still think 3000 is fair no more than 4000 at the most and that's being nice

I'm betting that the unknown leak is draining into the rocker panel and causing those issues with the running board and rocker rust.
Water getting inside always tries to get out. Pull up the carpet and look at the floors if you can.

Good point @RapidRob. I own an 80 and not a 100 but my 80 sunroof drains out right there. If that had been clogged and collecting water then there is your problem and would explain why that is the only rust. Looks fixable and wouldn’t stop me from buying and is also a good bargaining chip.

I bought a vehicle from a member on this site that had a similar drain issue. To even prep the area for repair has taken some time. I am still waiting on the bodyshop to repair it. They have blocked out 5 days of time, and the cost will be at least 1500-3000 dollars to repair not including finish quality paint. So that's probably worth factoring into the price.
