I just want the "toyota" on the grill to look good again. Mine is quite faded. I'm thinking on just painting it, but is there a certain paint thats recommended or any alternatives?

They are chrome plated plastic. I used fine steel wool very lightly to clean them. Also put masking tape around the letters so you don't damage the surrounding areas.

Could have a sign shop produce vinyl lettering to cover them. Just make sure they use UV rated vinyl.

I did this to a license plate. Several years later, still looks new.

I've used products from TVD Vinyl Decals for other models. I wonder if they do this for the early 80? Or might be willing to make a set up? Seems like he had to be careful about copyright stuff though, so he may not do that anymore. Maybe drop him a line and ask?
