Looking into getting one of those full length lumber/ladder rack deals for the Taco truck bed. I believe I've got it narrowed down to either a Kargo Master or a Rack-It. There's a dealer close to me who has both, the KM is $500 and the Rack-It is $580.. KM comes in pieces and you put it together (or they will as part of the $80 install) and the Rack-It is one solid welded deal, so it can't be shipped but the install is only $35.

Anyone have any experience with either one of these? Looking for basic Home Depot duties... plywood, occasional drywall, trim, etc. Also want to find a way to add Yakima-sized cross bars to it, so I can bolt on my box & bikes & so forth.. For me, buying a welder, bender, and DIY is not an option, no way I'll come close to breaking even (feel the same way about sliders). Any "must have" options? thanks for your comments. -tim

edit: on second thought, maybe this should be in outfitting... however it is truck-specific. I dunno, someone with forum omnipotence can decide.

Hi Nakman.I go for the one piece welded Rack-it , probably less squeaks and rattles than the bolt together job.

Thanks. I was thinking the same thing, but of course the web site of the other swears that their awesome joints are tough and they eliminate squeaks. And I like how the back top bar has quick disconnects, so you can remove it to drive a motorcyle in or something, can't get that from the solid weld unit. But damnit it would drive me crazy if that thing squeaked all the time..

your title suckered me in...I thought we were gonna see some nice racks of the female variety :) I too would stick with the all welded...also consider putting down permanent racket straps - I don't know if the two you are looking at have those already or not...
