Working on a new hitch for the 80 series.

My original plan was to flush mount the receiver, but I'd have to hack out more of the bumper than I want for hitch pin clearance.

First trip in the 45, down the driveway and back. No exhaust and still lots of small stuff to do, but was sweet!

The HZJ-73 I bought last year needed lots of things done to it mechanically as well as body work improvements.
Mechanical stuff is really close. I am working on body now. Hoping for paint in a couple weeks if I can get enough evening hours in!

Lastly the Franken-79. Most surprises ever on a new Cruiser for me. Keep looking forward, right?
Painful decision, but wound up buying a good used 1HD-T in Canada to keep (or get) on the road, as the one in it is whipped (but rebuildable). The pulled engine will get a rebuild on leisure IPA time and hopefully end up in the HZJ-73.
The truck has stacked on stacked backyard fixes over the years, but just trying to sort out and keep smiling. I've wanted a 79 over all others and I guess that made me just a wee bit blind. It will all work out fine. Looks good in pictures at least, and I still dig finally getting one 😁. Might end up thinning the herd to recover. We'll see

First tire rotation for the Nokians on the taco.

Used an 80 spare 285 to hold up a corner, and again I wish I could swing throwing an 80 front under this thing.

Before reinstalling the LF tire I decided to swap out the steering rag joint. That wasn’t fun… also swapped in new radiator hoses since I’ve had a nagging leak.

Just in time for rigs and coffee tomorrow!!

Passenger side in shape and filler primer coat on. I saw an Eastwood reel where they were rolling the filler primer on so I decided to try it. It works great. No overspray or masking needed. In my tiny shop that is a very good thing. When the sealer and paint process happens, that will be at the powder coat shop over the whole weekend- with a real paint gun, lol

Thanks for sharing! That will be good info for when I start into real body work.

Truck is home from the paint shop! Now it's time to reassemble.

Anyone have a windshield installer in Michigan they trust???
