What would happen if I did AAL and shackles.

This will help you out and be easy on the wallet. Check shock travel when done. You will find the rear stockers are a little longer than the front. You could always put the rear on the front and just by rear shackles. AAL are good for a little hike as well as stifness. You will definately notice the AAL. I have used MAF short leafs many times with good luck. Nice way to save some $$$

You will get a little lift and a firmer ride. Depending on the shackles you might only get back to factory height.

i had my springs re-arched with AAL and longer rear shackles. gave it enough to ride on 33's comfortably. Later did a 1" body lift to clear 35's. Recently went SOA and am planning on 38's.

but anyways it rode a little hard but was at a nice height for 33's.

winslow, how did you like the short aal, I have a set that i was going to put on the back but was recently discouraged by some people remarks about how extremely stiff they are,

my plan was aal short in the rear, aal long up front

i decided to go with the short rear because I carry alot of weight and right now my back end is all over the place on winding highways, if they are too stiff i will just do long aal's all around

let me know how you liked the shorts, thanks

I have run the shorts on 2 rigs. My 62 had BDS springs and rear AALs. It was an expedition rig and I carried about 800-1000lbs of gear when I went from Alaska to Panama in '04. My 60 is SOA and had a lot of body roll. On and off road I liked the manners of a stiffer spring. I would hesitate to use any such set-up in the front. You might get a choppy ride.
