'Hamma, Did you have any warping while welding thicker stuff to thinner stuff? Maybe you left it bolted up when welding? Just curious. Looks nice.

Thanks,

That looks like crap. I'll send you a new cover and you can send me that one so you can try again. :D

As you can tell from the welds, I didn't have the welder set very high (heat) & I let it cool a little in between passes. So, no I didn't have it bolted down. If there is any warpage, I plan on using a thick rubber reuseable gasket anyway. Oh yeah, the cover is for the front if you assumed it was for the rear.......

Dizzam dude, you been busy. Lookin good, showoff. :flipoff2: jk

Did you say that it's for the front?

Yeah, since I took a break from the 55alanche bodywork, I decided to get some other stuff done like link suspension parts cleaned, these wheels, starting on both axles (hybrid LC front/ D60 outers 35 spline to the hub - you'll see that later) & my 14 bolt rear (gears & custom 1410 flange) & one more thing - I scored a 3.64 Marlin geared 3 spd case. I could go on & on, but I'll get to that stuff & pics later.....

OMG man, run with it! :bounce:

Someday... :dreaming:.

So you got a good thread running with progress of this avalanche project? Been outta the loop for a whiles.

Interested to see that front hybrid axle. I assume you used a rear housing.

BINGO! I got the ends pounded on, located a diff drain, just gotta wait for TechTim at ARB to return my phone calls for my rebroached ARB side gears. Got the 4.88's & inner/outer shafts but still need to get the inner seal worked out. Here's a really old pic of the project:

Check out the Iron Pig Preservation Society for my buildup, prolly second page by now......

looks beefy, did you make your axle like Woody's "super toyota axle?" The one Nolan talked about in the TT.

No way! I'm not putting more $$$ into a birfield equipped front axle unless it's those monsta D60 birfs Bobby Long sells. This one is 35 spline D60 outers & 35 spline inners w/ a rebroached 35 spline LC ARB RD33.
