I am looking to upgrade a lot of things on my lc. I have already considered buying tint and getting a suspension lift. I was interested in buying halo headlights for my fj80 1996 Landcruiser, and also tail lights to match. Carid.com didnt have much of a selection. I was wondering if anyone had already replaced their headlights and can suggest anything. thanks

do you have any pictures you can post? I would like to get an idea of what they will look like on my cruiser

Just snapped a couple of quick ones, there are plenty of pictures out there plenty of people have them. The tail lights usually come with clear corner lights but if you get the halo lights they fill the head light and corner light spot.

If you want a HID setup you'll have to retrofit.I know they sell them that say HID but the projector in the "sonar" light are not that great for a HID light. But the sonar lights with the halo and led's do look cool!I have them but retrofited HID's in them(awesome:cool:)!!!A couple threads on here if you are interested in taking on that project.I found mine on ebay for alot less then anywhere else......Good Luck!!

I have also been contemplating this modification, but without the halo. I am looking for just better lighting/ update not so much bling. Do they make projector lights without the halo?

you can buy the brighter hid bulbs but im not sure if they will fit in the eadlight compartment, I'm not real familiar with this subject.

I am thinking of getting HIDs as well. Not a fan of the halo unless they are OEM. Some of the aftermarket ones look like a flourecent round tube fabbed up from Home Depot on some the lowered vehicles I have seen around. The ones on mud look pretty good. I currently have Depo lights but I can't stand the spread.

I'm thinking about just getting the HID bulbs and replacing the old bulbs with them, sound like a good idea?

No. You need the proper housings.

If you just want to do a simple bulb replacement, look into the HIR bulbs. They are pretty awesome.

You can't put HID bulbs in stock lights or even in aftermarket lights unless you retro in some type of HID projector.Well you can do it but you will be blinding oncoming traffic also they will be s***!!The light pattern will not be right and they will suck! You need the HID projector to focus the HID light if not it will be reflected every where! If you would like to learn more go toHiDplanet : The Official Automotive Lighting Forum - The Buzz or The Retrofit Source online: headlight upgrades for all applications ...................good luck

I completely disagree, I run APEXCONE HID's in my truck and love them to death, best bang for the buck I've had so far.

I don't blind oncoming traffic, they're a huge improvement over stock, the light pattern is great for me, and nearly everyone that's ridden in the truck at night comments on how much better they can see than when they're in their own car.

I'm in Ethiopia where pedestrians rountinely wear black and step out in front of cars at night, and I went from thinking shadows may be people to being able to completely discern what's on the shoulder/sidewalk.

There's a thread on here somewhere, do a quick search and I think you'll find quite a few people that are pleased with them.

Hey! Where did you get these cool tail lights covers?
I would really appreciate your help! I have the same color LX450 and love it!
Thanks!
