I have a set of steel 3/16 half doors without any latches to keep them from swinging open. My old doors are the soft besTop doors and I don't want to use those type of latches. They constantly are stretching and don't hold the door secure enough.
I have looked at the old canned ham door latches and pocket latches but was hoping for advice from someone who has some experience. Thanks in advance. Here is the canned ham example

The Bestop door frames are not strong enough to handle a door with a pressurized latching system. You will only succeed in cracking the frame of the door with pressurized latches. Reinforce the manual rotating latches and move on.:)

The same. Spring loaded and wire frame doors are not a good long term combo.

Mark I believe he is switching from soft doors to 3/16" steel doors. Those should be not flex like the wire frame doors.

Yes, I am switching to steel doors and they definitely will not flex. I will post a picture tomorrow of the door. I would like to find something that would be a flush mount and only open from the inside. This would be nice. Problem is it has a latch on other side. Also is in stainless steel. I could try it and just flush mount it on the inside. What do you think..

That looks like it would work. I would mount it on the outside so your pulling against the flange and not just the bolts.

Flush mounting in something only 3/16 deep sounds like a difficult task. Any strong latch that is made to flush mount will be close to that depth on its own.

Unless he wants it to rattle like crazy he going to need to add some thick weatherstripping, that will help a lot in a few ways.

Here is a better picture. I will add some weatherstripping of sort to the body. I have some u shaped trim which should prevent it from rattling. If not I can actually use some weatherstripping.
