Well, Even though I'm 26 years old, my mother is still bugging me to spend 1000$ of her money for christmas. I really wish front bumpers werent all around that number! I have a couple things in mind.

PFRAN LED kit which is only around $65.

4x4 Labs rear bumper $500 plus whatever shipping is.

The bumper isnt set in stone, I want a front mounted before I mount the rear. You guys have any ideas? If you had a stock 80, and $1000 to spend, what would you do??

I love the engine mounted, belt driven compressor to air up on the trail, but i have 1/2" and 3/8'' cordless impact so tires would be the only use for it that i csan think of... Maybe die grinder and air hammer/drill, but there are way too many options to spend this money on!!!

Help me out, professionals!

Sliders and skid plate.

Your stock bumpers can be banged up and then replaced with ARB/TJM/4x4 labs whatever.... its a bit harder and more expensive to replace rocker panels and a transmission t-case ;)

i like that idea! Any tips on brands? Definitly trying to get my moneys worth. or, moms money..:D

I'd say iron pig for the skid, since they are so close you can save on shipping.

Sliders..... like I said before, keep it cheap.... trail gear or marlin will protect fine.... with that combo you will still have some left over :grinpimp:

Or take it to stan and have him make some up.

Thanks a lot Al..

You are specifically talking:

and

Correct?

And I'm sure some of you 80 guys will know what length I need to order

i got the IPOR skid and i like it. I really like the way the rear kickouts work on my sliders.

Im a little late to the party but id blow every penny of that on a sweet front bumper. Especially since you twisted the stock one on a stump.

I would go ahead and order a set of trail gear sliders, they are on overstock right now and are $135 from dave's offroad supply...

IPOR or anyone else should be able to get the same prices. I bought a ton of tg stuff from frontier4x4 and just ordered a set of dirty 30's. Luke at frontier4x4 matched dave's prices.

Damn that's a good price.... you'll be under $500 for the skid and the sliders (not including shipping)

For the later model 1FZ's i've heard good things about putting land tanks MAF in there. Supposedly a lot more seat of your pants power and better mpg to boot.

With those 3 you would be scraping $1000.... then your goal for next year can be front and rear bumpers

John, you got an excuse, ryan, sounds like you might need to ask for a tape measure too :D
this would probably be the closest......
67" 84-88 Xtra-Cab, Pair, 120002-1-KIT
they are a tad shorter than most designed for 80s but i dont think you could fit the 78s
my slees are 72''

I agree with the suggested path and might even say go ahead and blow the budget by 80 bux

IPOR 345
TG sliders 135
my slightly used* ARB w/ warn 8k for 600
shes a lit bent but could be straightened and high clearanced at same time, add some paint and thats a lot of mods for a grand

but just for consideration the devils advocote would argue a big ticket item like your heavy heavy lift combo or the like because at your age and position it might be easier to pick up the smaller less expensive items on your own at a later date. Just a thought to consider if you can not trash it before then

PFRAN LED kit isn't all the impressive IMO. Order warm white LED's from ebay. I used 20 x 5050 panels in the map, front dome, rear dome, and a brighter 15 x 5050 panel in a custom tailgate dome light. All of the LED's are warm white (unlike PFRAN's bluish white) and only cost me $15. I haven't done the reverse lights yet and I am still looking for more than 4 x 5050 direct view T10's for the doors.

It's already been mentioned but Sliders for me. not worrying about the rocker panels is very comforting. Before you guy and buy a front bumper if you are considering an ARB, let me know. I might be going to the Tube bumper from Bump it offroad but am not sure. Also I got some sweet LED's still sitting in the box. lol

i would get 100 series skid plates. If they do not fit, ill buy them from you for a discount if that helps.

thanks man. Always there for a friend.

for real though. I would go with sliders first. I did not buy these first for my 100(when others recommended it). I had an awesome looking front bumper and other doodads/ neat stuff, but every time my break over came into question, or there was a rock or stump, it about ruined my trip. The sliders are my #1 best add on to my ride.

can't agree more

You guys are awesome. I'm on my way to my parents house now to order sliders and a skid. Trying to think of some more odds and ends..
