I am interested in the size winch (8k-15k) that you run on your FJ60. Throw in the model if you would like.

Would an 8k be a good choice for a light wheeler, pulling people out of the snow and an occasional self recovery etc.?

Cheers,

I run an 8274 on my rig, its fast, and if I need more power I double line it.

8274 are good winch no matter what .. fast and reliable. My first Ramsey Plantinum 9500i was fine in 99% of times .. but in a serius stuck I need more power ..

So right now my MM E-12000 was my best bet .. I thought 15 is pretty heavy winch anycase .. the question is .. do you really need 15 K of power .? ( and price )

I bought my MM in 500 USD ..

I just used my Ramsey Rep 9.5e double lined to pull a Dodge crewcab and gooseneck (scaled out at 14K pounds) out of my yard. Had to anchor the Cruiser with a cube van but it pulled the whole combination out no problem. I bought it simply because it was the cheapest "brand name" 9K winch readily available at the time. I paid $420 for it from www.ok4wd.com The price has gone up since then but was still reasonable last I checked. It fit the ARB winch bar after I slotted the bolt holes in the bar.

HTH,
Nick

Just looked it up zebrabeefj40 and the winch you bought is still reasonable at $479 ..

i dont run one cause i'm not pullin a jeep outta nothin!:D

just kidding......i still dont, but if i did.........8274

Factory PTO

Not sure on rating but have seen some massive loads moved by a mate with same set up. Not fast but will pull almost anything out of anywhere.
