uggg, I am 90% certain it is 5mm x 1.25 pitch, also referred to as very fine thread by my local Aubuchon hardware store.

also, you need to buy a "alden grabit" set, i have pulled a dozen screws out so i could take them to the hardware store and match them, every time i use it, i look down at the screw and say, "damn i can't believe this stupid thing works"

Toyota originally used Japanese Industrial Standard spec nut/bolts on some applications.
Around 1968 or so they adopted ISO specs for most everything.
So.....the pitch can vary.

These machine screws are Phillips Head Oval Head 5mm diameter.

The JIS screws are M5-0.9x14.
The ISO screws are M5-0.8x14.

To be sure on your particular truck, get one of each and see what threads easily into the other existing thread holes.

I bought 6 5mm screws at Ace and they threaded right in. .9 pitch iirc but they did not have any other pitch in a 5mm flathead and had no oval in SS. I put a nylon flat washer under the heads to ensure I would not crack the paint.

I just went to ace and they only had .8 pitch. I'm going to hit up Lowes

Dude - I hope I did not **** you up there. I did not double check so it could have been .8. It was in their huge Hellman display. I have both .8 and .9 taps and just checked to see if I could figure out which one I used to chase the threads but could not figure it out.

I don't think I ever want mine to be that nice.
I know right?
I am sure it will get scratched before it gets out of the garage.

I ended up buying the screws from Spector.... They cost me $5 for 6 of them
And $50 to ship :-)
