What size are the firewall heater core hoses?

Hello,

One of my heater hoses sprung a small leak on my way to work this morning and I'd like to buy a replacement on my way home. It's the downward pointing hose coming off the T for the front heater to feed the rear heater. Does anyone know what size hose this is?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks, so I assume some 3/8" ID hose will work.

Not so fast.

Most of the firewall hoses are 5/8. Several have special moulded shapes so you need to get them from Toyota.

There is one short hose on the driver side, behind the manifold that is 1/2 inch. It is usually overlooked and is not obvious until it leaks. Go look-it's under the support for the throttle linkage.

There are no 3/8 hoses on the firewall of any Land Cruiser I have seen.

I think they are metric, becasue you can get a standard heater hose to work but it does not fit right.

Well, I took the truck to Napa on my way home and they had a caliper that I used to measure the OD of the metal pipe--which was 9/16". I bought some 1/2" hose so we'll see if I can squeeze that on.
