steering arm bolts?
Thanks. I am assuming you used a modified stock arm? It won't work for me running leafs... I have a set of trail gear arms that I am going to use.
Yeah, all you need to do is add a plate on top of the stocker & a gusset between & drill & tap. Doesn't matter what suspension you have it'll work fine w/ leafs too.
i've been really surprised and impressed with how tough FZJ80 tie rods ends are
Isotel and Flyinglow
LC - I didn't see the boots for heims on the Baker page. Any more info on the boots or is a call in item?
(edit) Never mind... Rod End Seals, Weld In Adapters, Spacers And Reducers
I'm using These 3/4" teflon jobbies from Ballistic.. XM-12 3/4" CrMo rod end w/ kevlar liner
They've been holding up well, though I try to stay the hell out of the mud, and don't street drive the rig much at all.
XM12-10 are available with a 3/4 thread and a 5/8" hole and have a 31000lb strength but the 5/8 bolt will be the week link. I have not looked into the NAS bolts yet, I think they would have comparable strength in a 5/8 size. They will be pricey though. I have some used 9/16 but no 5/8.
Mookie,
You called it. Spindle bearings are toast. Seals failed and the hubs were full off muck.
GM 1 ton were in good shape.
Thanks.
I have 9/16" bolts attaching my Currie rod ends to the rockwells, and I certainly do not EVER worry about them in the least, and my driving style has become more skinny-pedal Stevie-Wonder-esque each trip out. I've seen rod ends, RE joints, and 1" thick hi-steer arms fail, and the 9/16" bolt holding it all together did not bend or fail.
I did the 3/4" only because that's what the steering ram was pre-tapped.
Cliff notes: You'll be fine with the smaller size.
Watch out for them double-headed dump trucks.. only aircraft that can have a mid-air collision with itself!!(Yeah, I'm an old Blackhawk (yeah, lawn-dart) guy)
But if you have the super-pimp stuff available, then by all means, go for it! I acquired some good stuff before I got out of the Army...
