So if you could pick your addon electronics and their mounting locations what would you do?

I want to spend under 500ish, can spend more but hope not to

CB,(and? plus?) for communication notice alot of locals use them
GPS, city directions and topo would be nice
Radio, need am/fm + iphone 3g + bluetooth capable + satellite capable, dont need CD/Tape but CD so common so /shrug

Have the 2 DIN slot for radio open + whatever other sensible mounting positions.

The faceplate of my alpine was stolen so need to replace, replacement face 120$ from best buy but it does not work with my iphone 3g so want to get one that charges iphone and plays music from it or I guess I could buy an ipod classic or something

Ashtray mod won't work on his '93 w/o serious cutting!

I've got my Uniden 520 cut into/mounted in the pocket under the single din radio. No pics here at work.

Magnum S9 (40 Watts) or if you can afford it the Magnum S980 (80 Watts) with an original Powerstick 200 Channel antenna (very hard to find) or a Powerstick 2 which is the model that replaced it (also hard to find). This is the best steup and most bang for the buck you can get. Best audio qualkity and best audio modulation out of the Magnum Radios.

Garmin GPS the 760 is nice but if you do not need all of the features you can go with a more basic model. Garmin GPS sytems work the best.

Most all aftermarket radio are crap compared to upgraded OEM radios. I would agree that Alpine is probably better than most however.

Uniden PRO510XL $100 (with all the fixin's, antenna, cables, etc) Go to Slee's website and check out the ashtray mod

Uniden PRO510XL Professional Mobile CB Radio

portable GPS of your choice - $100

:meh:

Good choices above but you could spend a little more and skip the alpine and go with a Pioneer that comes with almost everything.

Crutchfield: Pioneer FH-P8000BT CD receiver at Crutchfield.com

Amazon: Amazon.com: Pioneer FH-P8000BT Double Din In-Dash CD/Mp3/Wma/iTunes AAC/Wav Receiver: Electronics

I ain't skeered about no cuttin:grinpimp:

The Cobra 18 WX ST II ain't too bad either, and is a normal DIN size. You can stack it dual DIN

Alpine CDA9885 + GPS V + Cobra 18WXST II

I've got the CDA9883 right now. Good deck, but I want a little more. Also planning on upgrading to the Cobra CB.

I have a Garmin Nuvi 750 ($200 costco online) and it works very well, has a large enough screen, and its topo capable with the SD slot.

I am debating on whether to go with the Uniden ash tray CB or the Cobra that has all of the controls in the mic. One downside to the Uniden from people I have talked to is the absense of the weather channel.

Get the Uniden 520xl. I've got one for sale if you're interested just PM me. I can let it go for a good price.

It is a cool radio it has the PA and filtering features that the 510 lacks.

Slee - Uniden CB Install (Toyota 80 Series Land Cruiser)

But... too much other stuff to do

So figure I will do
1din radio with ipod connect
1din CB, still not sure which the uniden is highly recommended here but the weather channel would be cool
GPS will just mount on windshield I guess and have the dangle cable

Need to go take a picture of my dash/center console so I can sit and think about it at the computer

I wouldn't spend much money on a CB. Just the most basic is all you need. I got my Uniden 520xl and wilson little-wil antenna combo for $100 even.

I would invest in a good 2m rig like the Yaesu 2800:
Yaesu FT-2800M, Yaesu FT2800 Mobile Transceiver
You can get the radio and a good antenna and mount for well under $200.

I have seen some decent GPS units for ~$150
