Hello Folks
We where traveling Australia and currently are stranded with our LHD BJ75 and a broken Pitman Arm. The Problem, our whole Steeringbox does not match the toyodiy diagramms nor has anybody yet seen such a setup. We've done some cross checking with the guys from the german buschtaxi-forum to see if it could be off a different series LC. But we've not found anything that looks the same or would match the teeth and diameter of ours. (we've checked 40, 60 and 70 series)

This picture shows the different Pitman Arms. The new one is the part you can see in the diagram of the second image below, which in term was found with the VIN number of our car.

As you can see in this image, the steering box is different. The most obvious would be that our pitman arm points FORWARD, while the one in the diagramm points BACKWORDS.

Now whe're asking ourselfs if the assembly may have been changed at some point or if this is infact a genuine set up. The previous owner had it for around three years and did not change it, but we don't have contact details of the first owner.
And I couldn't find a serial number on the Steeringbox.

Does anybody recognise this setup? Maybe even from a different brand then toyota...

Technical Data of the Pitman Arm:
It has 32 teeth, one of them is sort of a "Mastertooth" that is double the width of the normal ones.
Diameter Teeth: top 27mm, bottom 27.5mm

Any tipps or hints are greatly appreciated
Thank you very much
Tim

I have checked all the parts books I have for a "one off" steering box but could not find anything. The Toyota bolt pattern is always even across for land cruiser applications. The arm you have (with part number) is the correct 70 series for your vintage but it is obviously not the right one. Sorry to be no help on this one.

It looks like it's a '89 Patrol MK/MQ (or 260) steering box. I'll have a chat with the Nissan Dealer today to get it measured and see if we can find the exact part number.
I'm tempted to point out that it was a Nissan part that let us down, but I'll resist the urge ;)

Looks like yours was converted to power steering with patrol parts.
