I'm about to get a 40 (wait is OVER :D).

My buddy has a 4runner that is going to the boneyard (87 I think). What can I scavenge that I can use on a 63 40 series? Not having laid eyes on it (40), I really don't know which direction I'm going with it (resto or mild mod). I would like to have the parts I need for a disc conversion or power steering (should I decide to go that route), and it seems like "free" is a good price so......

What should I grab?

Forgive me if it's obvious; it's my first 40, and I know NOTHING about minis.

Thanks.

take the whole thing and store /park it somewhere until you get the 40 and a better handle on things?? Is the fore runner owner named Mike??

My wife would kill me. :D

His name is Rick but I'm not sure who gave him the donor. Pretty clean rig that had a tree fall on it. Rick already has a "ford runner" (302 stang), and he's doing a chevy as a "sleeper". The parts went to a good home.

Now it's my turn. I don't expect it to take too long to rob. He's got some lattitude on time. I just want to be considerate and get it done quickly (for his roomates more than anything).

if it's solid axle, yank the entire front end for now. you can pull disc conversion stuff out later, should have a cv driveshaft, those are great for soa's, brake master/booster/proportioning valve, power steering pump, hoses and gearbox.

Any screws/nuts/bolts you can get off the thing. Save em for later.

Light bulbs

Seats for use in your cruiser or a shop chair

extra wire

info?

its an 87, no front axle. IF its an 85 or older then you would get the front axle but the 85 is one the get..fwiw
some came with rear heaters could be somethin:hhmm:
maybe even make a truck bed trailer out of it..

:meh:

pull and save the entire rear axle. sell the 3rd memeber. the axleshafts, brake components and outter portion of the the housing are needed if you ever fab your own LC centered rear diff.
