What parts am I missing for the mini-truck PS setup?

CruiserStuff, I would run the factory pump in the stock location if your engine is a 79 or later and has the holes in the head for the pump. The only reason I went with a Tercel pump in the smog pump location is because a PO swapped a earlier 2F motor into my truck so no holes for me.

Pin_Head or someone in the know I am sure will post up but I thought the FJ40 factory PS pump was the same as used on FJ60s. If so, they should not be too hard to find in a yard or Mud classified.

Cruiserstuff,
How are running your plow ? of the egnine ??
I would like to see your setup and how it is done , inj-pump, water-pump, alternator and the Hydrolic pump.
And I was following your thread about your 2F trouble, so is this another 2F you just put in recently?

Vicm - No, the plow is not run off the engine....it's a hydraulic unit (google Meyer Snowplows). Everything on the truck is unmodified, though I may go to a dual-battery set-up (when I'm running the heater, wipers, headlights and snowplow, there's a big drain on the battery).

Check out this thread for some pics:

Yes, something went horribly wrong with the engine (though I haven't had time yet to identify what exactly happened). Texican turned me onto an eBay sale for a 3/79 2F with the complete tranny/transfer case that Jonathan Ward at TLC in Van Nuys was selling. I won the auction and will be having my truck towed down there to do the swap next week...Hopefully the good weather we're having will continue until the truck is back up and running....

Okay.....it's been a while, but I've managed to scrounge up most of the parts I'm gonna need to get the PS on the truck.....the 3/79 block that I recently installed that has the factory mounting holes.

From previous posts, it was determined that the kit I bought had a Tercel pump which wouldn't work for my application because I have a '76 and need to retain the smog pump for the Cal emmissions Nazis.

I scored an OEM pump, mounting bracket and pulley to add to the power steering box and mounting pedestal that I already had.

What I DON'T have is the nut for the pulley, the nipple for the return line, some of the mounting bolts and the belt....and I'm not convinced at this point that I might not have to get new hoses....they seem kinda brittle to me.

Am I missing anything or am I good to go? Anyone have a part number for the nut for the pulley? Also, what size/length bolts do I need to mount the pump bracket to the block and the pedestal to the frame? Any help/tips from those who have done this install would be appreciated......

I just ordered a nut and woodruff key from CDan couple of months ago.

The woodruff key # is 44311A I can't find the nut # right now...

I am also in need of a return nipple for that box, so if someone has two of them I'll take the other. :D

There is a thread here somewhere that states a nipple from a Dodge truck will also fit...

There is lots of info on the install in the fax and through search.
The return fitting you can buy one from Carquest. I posted the # before in another thread, but you have to cut the tubing and flare it, because the side of the tubing that goes into the box is for GM application. Also you might find one at a scrap yard. I will call tomorrow and get a # for that fitting.
When I did this install I find the following helpfull.
Taking the fender out will make it alot easier, but the 12mm bolts will very likely break.
YOU NEED A GOOD SIZE PITMAN ARM PULLER
You don't have to take the pitman arm from the drag link
Make sure the box is tight on the bracket when you are centering the pitman to the sector shaft.
I did the centering while the front wheels are off the ground,
Pushed the wheels all the way in one direction and turned the steering wheel same way and installed the pitman only finger tight so I can pull it off easyily If I had to readjust.
You will need to bleed the system with the engine not running and with it running many many times over.
You very likely to overfill so be prepared for fluid to gush out of the reservoir when you shut the engine.

Vicm - You rock! Thanks for the first-hand tips for the install. I'm thinking that my plowing for the year may be done (or close to it), so I have some time to get this done. Thinking I might as well rebuild the center arm and rag joint and also replace the TRE's while I'm at it.... Thanks again!
