Well that answers that!!

I'll put in an open diff for now, and figure out from there if I'll need a locker later.

We manufactured the parts and remachined the Gov-Locks for installation into Landcruisers back in the 70's. That's when they were the only game in town, and also back in the days when I got laughed at for showing up with a GIGANTIC set of 33's on my rig. Evidently Gov-locks were perfectly fine for family 4 wheelin with 31's??? Their down side is that one tire must spin before the other side locks (like TrueTracs). Problem with this is that by the time the second tire locks, it's sometimes too late!!!!!

Well thats cool to know!
My 40 is originally from CA and has various parts I believe came from you guys originally. A steel 22gal aux fuel tank, a SBC to 3 speed kit that looks like the one you still? sell. And a folding rear seat with storage that is either Downey or Con-fer (I forgot which)

You guys very well might have installed my Gov-lock originally. BTW, it still works perfectly. :) I just have a toasted pinion bearing.
