IME, no paint holds up for more than 15 minues. No personal experience with ceramic coatings but I have seen some Cheby Ramshorms that have held up well over time to Jetcoat. Pricy as others have mentioned.
x2 I have not found a paint that will work for that use. I would go ceramic or jet hot or leave raw. Of course I live in Arizona where rust doesn't rust.
I used the same black 1200 deg bake-on paint on both my headers and my manifold. Because of the size I was not able to bake my headers in the oven, but I was able to bake my manifold. I found that my manifold has done very, very well over the years while my headers immediately bubbled and started flaking towards the top (at the collector end) but have held up reasonably well at the exhaust end.
VHT manifold paint is rated for 1500 degrees. It works. Mine is a couple years old and looks pretty good. I pre-heated it in the oven, painted, then followed the instructions for curing on the engine.
I painted the air injector rail with it and it flaked off.
Swain has a good product called White Lightning. It's supposed to keep heat from radiating too much into the engine bay. It is white in color, but you can coat it in any 1200 degree engine paint and it wont burn the paint off. Guys with modified turbo cars use this stuff and swear by it. Something to think about.
