hi ,

can someone tell me what purpose this part have. it's sit on top of the front diff housing. there is one exactly like it on the breather on yhe rear diff......can it be painted right over.....is it part of the brake kine?

Axle breather to let it vent. used to have a spring loaded cap over it. it's fine to paint it if you like. clamp some fuel line to it and run it up higher than the frame when you reassemble.

It looks like yours is pluged (rusted shut) I would remove it and drill it out before you run hose to it.
