Coming from early cruisers with no ABS, I have no clue what this is. If I’m bypassing the ABS, do I need it? It’s from a 1996 FJ 80 that I’m putting a 60 body on.

LSPV

When it’s working correctly, it’s a valve that controls the rear brakes. Depending on how much weight in the rear, it will apply more braking power to the rear brakes when needed. It can be a pain when bleeding the brake system. It is also independent of the ABS system.

Thanks! Looking after your reply makes sense now. Pretty cool idea. I’ll probably bypass it since I am making all new brake lines and wish to simplify. Thanks again!

That rusty LSPV gave up the ghost many years ago. Bypass the valve and may be a good time to delete the ABS unit while you are at it.

if you're ditching the ABS, I'd toss this LSPV as well!!
