What is next to the voltage regulator?

I'm trying to get everything ready and prepared to finish my rewiring this weekend, but after going through my manuals, wiring diagrams, etc. I'm still not sure what is next to the voltage regulator in this picture

Only thing that I can come up with is the hazard flasher, but I don't think that is correct.

Can anyone throw me a bone?

nothing is suppose to be next to the volt reg, there are 2 extra holes next to it however, the reason........becuase if it had a generator the reg is different and would use those holes(and the others) to mount to. So, a 65(and 64 and maybe others) is set up for an alt or gen volt reg.

I don't know what that is in your pic, the thing on the right aint stock AFAIK

The wiring in this truck was a disaster. I'm glad that I decided to start from scratch and not just try to repair what was in there.

Bet you had a GM alternator in there, or something.

I have a complete uncut out of a 79 FJ40..........only thing missing is the firewall to rear tail light section.

Where's that red wire go to?

Red wire goes to a resistor, and then to a coil that has a sticker on it that states "Do NOT use with an external resistor"

I picked up an EZ Wiring harness that is already part way in (lights & signals are done). Need to finish the dash and engine compartment this weekend.

I'm thinking that they are both regulators. I think the one on the right is the functional one. The one on the left has a wire that goes to the turn signal flasher.

The current alternator is stock/original.

I'm going to disect the wiring harness to see which one is attached to the alternator (so you'll have to wait a while for the harness. You should get the flasher any day now).

I think you'll find all 3 of those wires coming from the front go to the alternator. The thick one goes to the B terminal on the alternator, the other two go to the E and F terminals.

I don't know the terminal letters, but here is a pic:

Thick one goes to B, and the other two plug in whatever terminal the plug goes into.
