My 87 Land Cruiser owners manual lists a FJ60LV "van" as being sold in the USA. I don't think I have ever seen one and I couldn't find anything with an internet search. Does anyone have any info or a picture of one? Thanks, GC

there was a:

BJ60LV-KK
FJ60LV-KK
FJ60LG-KA
BJ60LG-KK
BJ60LG-MK
HJ60LG-MK
HJ60LG-PK

USA 60S WERE THE FJ60LG-KA

"L" signifies left hand drive and the next letter is a trim level I think. Nothing unusual at all.

Thanks for the info. My owners manual says the body style of the LV model is a van, and the LG is a station wagon. That is what had me confused. Do you know what the difference between the G model wagon and the regular wagon is? Thanks, GC

I'm not sure of the exact difference, but I've heard of an all vinyl 60. Vinyl seats, floor, etc... I've never seen one.

The LV was sold in USA for a few months in 1980-81. Looked third world. No AC, no rear wiper, exact same seats and door panels but all vinyl, bumpers painted grey metallic...

I have personally seen exactly 2 of them in person in the last 15 years.

Sounds like a base model Chevrolet with the vinyl flooring. Oh but it is built by an American company in Detroit so there is no possible way they outsource. :D

15 years later....Wondered about this as well.

Just saw a FJ60LV-KA. VIN is JT4FJ60V2H1xxxxxx. (I used XX to not explicitly list someone else's FJ60) It is a MY 1987produced January 87.

I have a MY 1987 produced August 1986 and see no material difference to my FJ60. Mine is a FJ60LG-KA, with VIN JT3FJ60G3H1xxxxxx

For the FJ60LV-KA, the VIN plate lists "Vehicle Type" as "Truck"
For the FJ60LG-KA, the VIN plate lists "Vehicle Type" as "MPV"

Hope this helps someone else at some point.

Hello. I just acquired a 87 fj60 January production as well. Same starting vin. JT4FJ60…
Why the JT4…instead of the JT3…?
I can’t seem to find any information so far?

Hi,
Officially the 3rd position the VIN number is "Vehicle Type or Manufacturing Division"
Key is:
1, 2, 7, D, G, K, N, X - Passenger Car
3, E, L - Multipurpose Passenger Vehicle or SUV
4, A, B, F, M - Truck
5 - Incomplete Vehicle as in convertible

Of the limited searching I've done, I haven't seen another US market 60, except that month(s) of production around jan 1987, with a "4"
Everything else up to MY 2000 seems to have "3" and then in MY 2001 it changes to "E"

So, if you find any history for the decision made to move to a "4" (vs. "3"), for that apparent short duration, please share!

Richard

OK I’ll keep looking. I know Fj62‘s also use the ‘3’ so it’s perplexing.
But it is interesting that both our cruisers were produced in January and have ‘4’s.
