So I am trying to identify this carb so I can find a rebuild kit for it, not sure what I have here. The only place I can see numbers is on the top right up against the Downey air cleaner. Those numbers are 6387 on the left (pass side) and 6392 on the right (drv side). Neither of these pull up as anything on the Holley site. The only other numbers I can find are a slew of different pattent numbers.
Any idea where I may find a number of what this carb is? I did not see a "choke tower" referenced on the holley site to look for a number, hoping someone here may be able to identify or tell me where I may look to find that number.

That's a Holley 350 (#7448). I have a rebuild kit for it, and a 1,000 percent much much better way of hooking up the throttle cable. PM me for more info.

Need input about the Holley 350 for the Land Cruiser

Guys,
I have a Holley 7448 on the Downey intake but it needs a lot of work. After a few deployments and it sitting in wait, it need to be rebuilt. I need insight as to the replacement jet sizes as well as the sizes of the power valve and accelerator pump. Also I have heard of a throttle linkage update and would like to know more. Can anyone help?

I'm not sure about the difference in your Holley and mine based on the model number. I think yours would take the same rebuild kit which fits all the Holley 2300 2bbl type carbs. I get my kits off Ebay, and the last set I bought had the red bowl gaskets. The power valve should be a 5.5 IIRC. As far as the jet sizes, stick with the stock jets and you'll be fine. Use the smaller of the two accelerator pumps in the kit.

I heard that Downey quit making his throttle cable setup. I made mine from scratch and it's working okay so far. The bigger issue was making the original air cleaner work with the Holley. If you need photos of the air cleaner and/or the cable linkage, pm me.
Doug

back in the day i installed a lot of those carbs .i also removed the same amount because they are crap .i cant believe people still use those gas guzzlers and yes im sure as always some people like them. sorry jim.out of all your products that was the only one you should have left on the development table.

I'm hoping Doug will chime in on fuel mileage, I hear its far better than mine with the asin...

Are you enjoying your rebuilt Holley? I found one of these on one of the 2F engines I have. Thinking of pulling it and throwing it up on the bay.

I can't respond for the original poster on this thread, but the two Holley 350's that I maintain on a '77 and a '79 have been pretty darn good. We don't climb rocks with our 40's, but on the highway and around town I get between 13 and 15 mpg on my 350 Holley. I have the throttle setup and carb adapter designed by Downey on both trucks and they have worked flawlessly. If a rebuild is necessary, the kits are about $23 on Ebay and anyone can overhaul the carb. I'm sure the Aisins are better for rock and hill climbing, but for a daily driver, it's hard to beat the Holley.

Awesome, is that with a 5 speed?

Yep, 5 speed H55 and 390 gears from FJ60. Along with the Saginaw pump and FJ60 steering box, it really makes the 40 a pleasure to drive.

Holley 350 Conversions

Well, I'm still here, guys who set up their Holley 350's properly are still happy with them, and I still have the trick cables and linkage mounting brackets available. As soon as the rest of you install a "sealed float bowl baffle" and "spring loaded needle valve" into your Holley's, you'll be happy on the rocks and hillsides too!!!

Glad to see you are still around Jim! Also good to hear the parts are still available. I haven't felt the need to upgrade the Holleys for rock climbing yet, but maybe someday.......

Good. The spring loaded needle valve (available from Holley) prevents the fuel supply going into the carburetor from turning off and on every time your rig takes a bounce. Multiple quick bounces/studder bumps are the real problem. The float bowl baffle prevents fuel from pouring down the throat of the carburetor on steep inclines/declines (number one reason people don't like holleys). BUT, fuel can still seep down the sides of the loose fitting baffle unless you seal it into the metering block. J B Weld not only holds the baffle into place without screwing it, but it also is a perfect seal!!!

These throttle cables from Downey are they the weber set up using a cable instead of linkage? I also have a Holley 350 it runs ok.

Threottle Cable Linkage Conversion

The Downey set up is designed to convert mechanical linkage FJ 40/45's over to cable driven linkage. They can be used with Holleys, Webers, or V8 swaps---very universal..
