@77mustard40 sorry that happened to you… here in NJ this is a very common incident. In fact, one reason I don’t drive my 40 in populated areas and there are few un-populated spots in the place. The other driver is usually too concerned that they need to be first…ahead of the pack and ahead of you. But since your not driving with that same attitude, the risks multiply as the pressure mounts in their p-sized, non-multitasking brain.
This really f’ing annoys me. In the near 3 million miles I have driven in my years on the road….i feel for you. Glad it was a simple fix for you.
Karma ... Mad Max got the short end of the kiss. Most of the impact was to my DS bumperette which smoked his hood, the broken lens was the only visible damage to the 40. He tried to tell his insurance carrier that it was a sideswipe but that story has been set straight. I was dead still in backed up traffic and watched him shoot for a way across to the lane right of me, and he never looked forward until after impact.

It's so wild to me. If I was in traffic within 100 yards of a 40, I know EXACTLY where that thing is, and not gonna hit it. It's crazy what some people's minds won't notice...

I pretty much daily my 40 here in Austin and it blows my mind how people treat you in traffic. Like we’re an affront or something. The tailgating is insane generally but off the charts in the 40.
F those F’ers.

Other drivers also don't understand that there smaller cars are hard to see if they are tailgating and all you can see is the roof line. I had guy in a Chevy behind me at the light and I was in the right lane and could make a right on a red. I did not see he had pulled between me and the sidewalk. I went to make the turn and he laid on the horn and my front PS Ground Hawg put a crease in the center of his fender and again all I could see was the roof line of the car.
Unplanned day to myself. Item 1: Assemble/mount door cards. Finally collected all the pieces, parts and remaining accouterments into one semi manageable pile this AM. It’s deliberate mix of OE and other.
The door cards fall into the “other” category and require minor surgery for door latch/lock, door handle and window crank. I managed all that without incident.
I decided to go with a 3M tape and it was the right decision. BLUF: It’s very forgiving to work with. Given my limited skills and public education, I can use all the forgiveness I can coax out of a project. I used a somewhat wider tape for that very same reason.
1. Test fitting after the 3M application.
2. Adjustment phase
Something that worked for me and turned to be a 99% solution. When I added the male inserts/clips I made sure the clip was fully seated in the opening pic 1. The corners are oriented on about a 45* angle. Pic 2 is good shot of the orientation.
Then, starting with bottom of the card, I inserted the clips from corner to corner. I tried initially starting on the top corner to corner. Soon realized I couldn’t see the bottom (duh) of the card. Regrouped and adjusted fire. Starting from the bottom going corner to corner made it easy/simple.
Non OE Black door cards with questionable parental linage.
OE black bezels and screw.
OE male clips inserts / OE female inserts (SOR provided).
Non OE Window cranks.
Non OE door pulls/handles of unknown origin.
I like the black against the 2.0 brown.
@knuckle47 - Al, note that both window cranks are oriented downward when the window is in the closed upright position. I know you like that sort of thing.
Those cards look great. Now you've inspired me to get some but I will be buying the light beige version as I plan to color match it to my coral seats. It seems like it would be easier to paint over the beige than over dark gray or black. BTW your garage is nicer than my kitchen LOL.
That is the domain of the “Dark One”, aka the House Frau and dictator for life. The Mule rolls on thin ice when it come to occupying 2nd bay in the Barbie Garage. I get up every morning and run a perimeter patrol around 2.0 just to make sure it’s keeping its fluid(s) internal.
