Incredibly solid metal out of the desert 👍🏻. You rolling with the rims?

Big thanks to @cruisermatt for making me this early (1967) replacement brake pedal for my LS swapped 40. The original brake pedal sat a good 3” above the gas pedal and too close because I had to shift it right to clear the 2” diameter steering column. My foot stuck under the brake pedal once trying to make a quick transition from gas to brake.

The new pedal sits about 1/8” from the column and maybe 1” above the gas pedal. The transition from gas to brake doesn’t require lifting my heel. I had to make a few mods because of the brake switch placement required for the 4L60e but other than that it pretty much bolted in.

Thanks again Matt.
The 40s brake pedals are too high I find.

Been quiet on here for a long while, got busy with life but did a massive project today. Decided to have the tub/panels professionally painted. I have been on a wait list for two years, when a spot opened up I decided to take it.

I’d love to paint it myself but I lack the climate controlled facilities and the PNW weather doesn’t cooperate. I’ll bring the rolling chassis back home to fit the drivetrain then reassemble after paint. Estimating 4 months. It’s a lot of work to do a bare metal full repaint. Going to be very involved in the seam sealing and properly coating all the cavities in the tub.

Two years almost to the month of body work to get to this point. Yes, I did tow this with a 4Runner and yes it was just a little sketchy.

Going through that bare metal process on my FJ it is a ton of work. But the results are work it. Knowing it won't be a rust bucket for the rest of its life because it was done right.

Ok..I missed that whole sale thingy. Can’t just whip out the new owner card without the back story.

Congrats on your sale..what’s next?

PS. That ain’t Akron…😉
It happened pretty quickly once everything was finalized. Akron is known for its sunny weather and palm trees?

lol! I have 2! One under the rig and another I was thinking about parting with. Call it market research…
I was just joking around.
The meme was from a funny movie, if you know you know.

The axle housing was in good condition as it had been repainted and rebuilt about 10 years ago and only lightly used.
No pumpkin or axles included, just the housing and entire brake / parking brake components including a like new linkage and handle. Set me back 500 but don't tell the wife.

Here are some pics from the forsale thread.

I think I gave a similar amount for mine, but it was in far worse shape. Had to blast it down to bare steel and start again. Perfect now.

Oh that movie is a classic, and I’d hit you with another!

I guess I got a good deal by comparison then.
Good flick but I'm more of a slow and content guy.

A handful of the ladies in the family came over today, they bake all sorts of cookies for Christmas using my grandmothers recipes. It’s an annual thing. We hosted, and I’m basically the supply sergeant.

Disappeared for a bit and took one of my nephews for a spin around the neighborhood and to our neighborhood park. After everyone headed home I got the itch to give the 43 a quick wash. Spent a good bit of time wiping down the interior.
