Changed the oil for the first time in my LX (my wife paid the dealership to do it last time). It was my first time working with the new plastic reusable oil filter cartridge. Dude, why?

Anyway, while I was down there I decided the factory 3-piece skid plates are stupid, so I'm looking for recommendations on a front skid plate with a removable panel for the oil filter. Please and thank you! :hillbilly:

Gives you a choice of material SS or Alum, number of plates. I went with aluminum as I trail drive, not rock climb and didn't want to carry the extra weight.

I wrapped the aluminum inserts in expel when it was relatively new and it has been holding up well. I’ve had a lot of Lexus vehicles over the years with those silly aluminum entry guards and they look like hammered dog $hit in just a few years.

Are these from a lower spec 200 across the pond?
Not sure what is pictured, but it looks like the same plain black plastic sill trim my US delivery '13 land cruiser had, without the backlit section.

Parted with it 2 weeks before the 3 year mark. Felt like losing a family member. New owner is on mud and in plano so y'all 200s be friendly to him.

That’s exactly what it is.

“Downgraded…”

Worked on some wiring. Blue sea fuse panel to clean up the battery connectors and a 2nd battery setup using a DC to DC converter. Still need to figure out where I want to place it all.

What's the DC-DC converter for? Look forward to you sharing details. I've had to install 24 V to 13.8V DC-DC converters on heavy equipment to power two-way radio's, but in your case it sparks some curiosity.

Was intending on another 80 but this popped up the night before I sold the LX. Not a cruiser but these v8 4runners come pretty damn close. It's bone dry underneath and up top, too good to pass up.

Solid replacement. So what pushed you to sell and "downgrade?"

My 2nd battery is a lithium battery and since those require a higher charge volt and doesn't like fluctuating from what I understand that's one reason for the converter to keep a steady state of charge.
Also be able to control when the 2nd battery is being charged so that there is not a draw when the vehicle is off, and don't have to worry about any back feed.

Installed Slee hi lift mount to Slee rear swing out. Works great with existing rotopax mounts once I sourced some shorter bolts. Now that my spare tire side of the rear bumper is optimized it’s time to move to the ladder swing. Thinking of just keeping it bare for now and adding adventure trail gear 5lb propane tank bag and their chainsaw bag to the ladder when on extended trips. These bags help you strap on a 5 lb propane tank and chainsaw and then can be removed while not on trips. Eventually I plan to mount an alu box to the ladder for recovery gear but that will be down the road once the 200 is fully dedicated to exploration.

I have had good luck with the Adventure Trail Gear propane tank bag. Highly recommended.

What is that gold colored thing on the top of the hi-lift jack?

The v8 4 runner is a great trail rig.

Agreed, I am just curious why he sold the 200 to begin with. If moving to something smaller for tighter trails then I understand. But based on the one post I saw he just stated that he sold it, not why.

It’s just the added features that come with the “extreme” version. I figured if I could get added features for same price as standard why not. Also it is more rust resistant due to additional coating. For 110 bucks delivered to my door I am happy. I considered the ARB jack but man I couldn’t swallow the 900 bucks.

I bought a GSF back in december. Even though it's my weekend vehicle it was seeing more usage than the LX since I'm WFM and don't leave the house a lot on weekdays. Didn't like it sitting that much and wanted something to tinker with. Intended on getting another 80 project or a 06+ high mileage 100 but the 4th gen popped up. As much as I was mentally prepared to dig into birfs, replace coolant hoses, ball out on delta radius arms, etc. this just made more sense for my current needs. Quick timing belt, head unit, and small lift/tires it'll be how I want for ~$2k. To do everything I'd want on an 80 would easily be $6k+.

Yep. It was mainly the pulley but the shop won’t do just the pulley and I had a 7hr drive the next day. They said it was pretty common on these engines and they keep a few in stock just in case. We’ll see how long this one goes.

That makes sense. What color GS-F? I almost bought one last year to push me off from buying a Porsche lol. They are fun cars and comfortable to boot.
