Got the new BFG KO3’s in 275/70-18. Roughly a 33x11 or so. The ride is awesome, time will tell if they’re good in the snow and dirt. I’ve been stoked to try them. Timing worked out great, but dang tire prices are WAY up!
Today I started to baseline the paint. It’s a mess and BLACK, which shows everything. I was able to get 2/5 of the car done this afternoon.
Full wash, decontamination, clay bar, compound, polish then wax. I’m gonna give it a ceramic coating but history has taught me to polish it once, wait a week and find all my errors then polish a final time before coat.
Toyota did their black paint right. Deep, dark and glossy.
I’m installing the OEM 10mm spacer up front this week. Should level the Cruiser nicely.
Change diff fruids, transfer case gear oil, and then went out bear scouting with a friend.... Found a new area in Boulder to explore, but found it around 7ish last night and didn't want to get hung up in a drift without anyone willing to pull me out. Thinking.... winch is the next priority.

i would wait until at least late june before you mess around near boulder too much. lots of narrows that will escalate quicklky with some snow in the mix

I know. I plan to park down there and fatbike around to make some trails if I can forage the time. The snow is deep and sneaks up on you pretty quickly!
Not my Toyota but got to demo the new cruzah at the XO ranch! Thanks to hatch adventures for the loaner! I’ll post a review of the cruiser and experience soon!
I sort of want to get a little Rav4 or something to rip on around town but it's hard to justify the price tags. But , low miles, no rust, and from the land of the rising sun is a plus.
Keep trying to kill my old corolla but it just won't accept it. After it started making some very suspect noises I figured it's time to check the dipstick. Took two quarts of oil and also seems to be loaded with fuel lol, should probably change it soon....maybe....
Figured while I'm at it I would really spoil the old girl and check the transmission. Also took 2 quarts of gear oil.....Runs and sounds a lot better now lol..... geez the 90's were the glory days for Toyota engines. This one has the 4AFE and if it wasn't rusting apart I'd love to keep it alive but it's crumbling beneath me.
After going out with @geo5 a week ago, I bought myself a lunchbox locker for the 4runner. That should be here midweek this week. As the 4runner is torn apart in prep for the locker I decided it was time to finally get the winch that has been sitting in my garage for a year mounted up front. The winch plate isn't complete, but I made a lot of progress over the weekend with some help from @DangBird. So far I welded a nut to the inside of each frame rail for a bolt to come up form the bottom of the plate. I then welded a cap on the frame's end with a bolt welded through it. Using some angle Iron I made a bracket that boxes in the frame that will attach via the front bolt coming out of the frame and also have a bolt going through the frame(haven't gotten that far yet). I did my first test fit with the winch on the plate last night and it fits very nicely. I plan to trim the plate roughly where the red marks are in the last picture and I will be able to reinstall the lower bumper plastic with a bit of modifying.
