Looks good @406Camper I'm confident that diff guard will pay for itself in Moab. Speaking of tailgates, ya can't have too much storage.

Next up, LCA Skid Plate.

Just pulled the trigger on my MT tires at Discount Tire. Saved $355 on my new 'pizza cutters' for Moab.

^^what did you go with? Also, what size?
Toyo Open Country M/T 255/85/16's. Billings has 1 in stock, if they can't get the others then I will probably go with Yokahama Geolander M/T. Cooper S/T Maxx are on backorder until at least April.

I have a set of the yoko MT on my tundra and a set of the Cooper ST Maxx on my GX and they are both great if you end up going that route. I don’t have any experience with the Toyos but I know they make a great tires so I’m sure you’ll be happy no matter what you chose. Post pics when you decide and get them on!

What's the idea behind the bed stiffeners? It looks like you're running a tailgate and I assume you generally keep it closed while moving. That's always seemed to be enough for the trucks I've been around. I'm sure I'm missing something though.

Flex can be significant when rock crawling. I have seen tailgates pop open. Just some extra protection when the bed flexes so it doesn't bow out the sides.

Looking good @406Camper!!!

And, @pigmony, I know personally the bed stiffeners make a big difference with my camper set up. I had a cab height fiberglass topper for a few years on the Taco with no obvious issue, but I wasn't doing as much hard adventuring either at that time. Enter the GFC, and the adventure it encourages, I noticed the top edges bowing out more and more (I have them now).

Thanks for the education. Thinking about the inverted U of the GFC frame, I can definitely understand how a bit of extra bracing would be beneficial.

The new Lexus didn't want to start this morning. I suppose being -22 is an excuse, but it’s not a very good excuse. I knew that the previous owner had replaced the battery a month ago, and I had the receipt. So I looked the battery up, and it's 200 CCA too small. I used my jump pack to get it started, and then got the correct battery after work.

I also stopped at Dave's Lock and Key in Bozeman and had a spare key made. Dave's was by far the cheapest place in town to get a fancy Lexus key made.

Seth (@pigmony ), you need to add the Lexus to your profile/signature block/stable of horses.

Replaced the radiator and all 16 of the coolant hoses in the engine bay today on Polly's 80. Only hoses I didn't get to were the 4 rear heater hoses, those will be done on another day

So I started load planning for Moab just to get an idea of how much space I am going to need, and although I didn't plan on it I decided to delete the rear seat in my AC for more room. Then I decided to soundproof or use sound deadening mat that I already had left over from my van build. I am currently building a crude platform as well.

Damn, that’s a lot of PM 😳..... and peace of mind. Well done!

Tire Update:

So I got my new Toyo MT Pizza Cutters (255/85/16) and I really like them. I gained 1.5" of clearance. Granted, my previous tires had 25K miles on them (and were somewhat worn), but still impressive. I am going to do a road test later this afternoon. They are a little noisier, but remember I have the rear seat deleted and haven't put in insulation yet. I will take a new decibel measurement as well and better pics.
