Addressing some safety items today on the 40. New 3/8 synthetic line from TRE, 125 ft, with safety thimble. 20,000 minimum breaking strength. Also grabbed some soft shackles while I was at it since they were on promo. Got one of those snatch block donut soft shackle combos on the way since my 80s snatch block has always had steel cable run through it. Better to just build a kit that will live in the 40 than swap gear back and forth between two trucks and with cruise Moab coming I wanted new stuff in case it has to be used. I have no clue how long the current line has been on there but I know it's been at minimum since 2015
Anyone interested in rebuilding a few warn winches? I’ve got two M10s and one M8. All need motors and gone through. I just don’t have time. I’d pay reasonable compensation for someone’s time. Need them by mid May. Just curious before I order new US made warn winches.
I'm tackling my cooling system again. I pulled the radiator out. It's 2-3 years old now and is leaking. I think the leaks are operator/owner error, not the fault of the radiator.
Can anyone recommend a radiator shop in Bozeman? I need to figure out if I'm better off getting it repaired or just replacing it.
I'm going to drop the radiator mount down 2", as was recommended by pretty much everyone. If you've done this mod, do I drill out the rivets on the brackets I've circled and then fab new brackets?
I'm planning to put in a bracket to hard-mount the transmission cooler to avoid using zip-tie mounts through the radiator again. Then it'll be getting a proper fan shroud. The hoses aren't in great shape either, so they'll get replaced. I also keep finding coolant on top of my intake manifold, which I suspect is coming from a leaking thermostat housing. I think I'll replace the housing since I've done that gasket twice and still have a leak.

I think you're on the right track bud. Hard mounting your trans cooler will help. The radiator looks nice, I hope they can save it.

Found the perfect spot to hard mount my Air Compressor... it is a great use of unused space.
Gotta' plumb the air compressor to a QD and its all set.
Mounted the base upside down using some brass threaded inserts…
Now I can bolt and unbolt it to use in the 40. I wanted to keep the portability.
And when it goes in it’s spot… it disappears.

Perfect spot. Revamping the ability to air up is in the works for my 40 before CM, the arb single in there isn't going to cut it for airing up perhaps two times a day for 7 days in a row.

drove to Seeley Lake last weekend with the wife's LX470 and picked this beauty up. I've been somewhat looking for one for a few years and found this tucked away in a craigslist ad, called him and he still had it.
He was also very reasonable in the price.
it's not a US made one but it was made in Japan.

I would love to have an anvil in my shop. It's not a tool I need every day, but when you do need one, nothing else is can really serve in its place.
An interesting thing happened today:
You may recall that earlier this week I missed out on buying an LX470 over in Helena. Well, that LX470 made its way to Bozeman. It was there that the new owner experienced a Serious Bummer. The new owner had gotten just a bit over anxious about buying the vehicle and committed the classic blunder of failing to check in with the Wife/SO/Accounting Department/etc. Serious Bummer.
Well it just so happened that I was browsing Facebook Marketplace at the time that the new owner, in a selfless act of domestic sacrifice, posted the LX470 for sale. (This was at about the same time that it really started snowing today too.)
Long story short:
I've got a Lexus.

Installed the BAMF Rear Dif Skid plate for Moab. Also installed the tailgate insert from Hooke Offroad. Thanks @MTsoul (Chris) for the recommendation for the tailgate insert. No issues whatsoever, not even with closing the tailgate and the stoppers.
