I did some searches and found a couple that people thought the stock rear quarters were made of 18 guage. Is this correct does anyone know? :meh:

Thanks

Most aftermarket suppliers use 16 guage.

That is unless you are Tyke Moses (Poor Wally's Landcruiser Emporium) and enjoy building tubs with 1/4 inch sheet or 3/16ths. I think Budbuilt has something similar as well.

i love my tyke tub...1/8" floors and 3/16" sides...rocks and trees fear my tub :D

Didn't realize it was that early!

So JohnnyC, how much does your Cruiser weigh? :D

Rabid did a weight test....and its just under the weight of a cruiser with a hardtop on...and since the weight is low it doesnt make it tipy like a cruiser with a hardtop on.

Thanks as usual!! 18 guage it is I will use. I have a 1/2 a sheet of something i will have to bust out the micrometer.

Use 16. Hardly any more expensive, stronger, and by the very nature of it being thicker, more rust resistant, or at least longer till it holes. Every 40 I've ever done I did with 16.

Thanks Texx. I just got done from searching and doing the conversions and i meant 16 gauge I would use! I just drove over and measured the 1/2 sheet i have and it is 14 guage which would surely be fine but i am putting it back above the rear tires where the inner fender meets the quarter panel so it would slightly stick out...... I will just get some 16

My title reads 1977 and i didnt check the tag while i was there..
