I'm looking for Hands Free capability for phone calls and to allow Music on my Smartphone to play through the Stereo.
I want to bring my 2002 LX into the modern world with Bluetooth capability. I've already installed Backup Camera capability
using a 7" monitor I installed on my console.

Currently I am testing this for Hands Free phone calls that does not require the radio - has its own speaker.
I'm using "Alexa" to command the voice. With an Android phone is there a better voice?

And for Music, this Bluetooth - FM Transmitter:
I like that it plugs into cigar lighter and has a goose neck.
Both work but can take a little setting up to function the way I want it.

Got any better solutions?

Better solution for me would be a new head unit so you'd only have one device in the stock place instead of a radio, an additional screen and now an additional bluetooth device...

I got a $300 6.8" JVC offering a Aple CarPlay as well as Android Auto... nice and clean tucked in place.

Will that JVC device work with the 2002 and earlier dash?
2003 and later was a redesign of the dash.

What did you use for your backup camera? Do you have a pic?

The above photo shows my RV Brake Controller, the Bluetooth to FM transmitter, and the display for my backup camera.
The Bluetooth to FM transmitter device works well for Music. Have not got its hands free Smartphone feature to work.
This would require the Radio to be tuned to a special frequency.
That black Ribbon Cable goes to the ODB2 port allowing me to connect an ELM327 device or the Tech Stream device without getting down under the dash.

Below is my hands free dialing/calling Bluetooth device I use with my Android Smartphone.
The nice thing about it is that it does not need for the Radio to be ON as it has a nice sounding speaker built into the device.

That looks crowded to me :)

I have a 99 LC, not sure if this specific one fits yours. But I think here are quite some threads about swapping the unit out...

Nav delete is the end all be all solution. Are you comfortable cutting and connecting 60 small wires? If so, you could have wireless car play / android auto, several video inputs for cameras, etc.

I went down this rabbit hole...BT FM transmitter solved the issue, coupled with the amazon special apple carplay devices that are sold now...I'm happy, kids like it too.

Go to this site. Put in your model year and it will show you a list of compatible radios with all the options you want. If you still have questions, call them. They are super helpful.

Best mod to my 100 to date was adding an Atoto F7 head unit and backup camera. I was intimidated by the job and put it off for a long time, but it was well worth doing and not as bad as I expected. Really brought the 100 into the 21st century.

Unfortunately it says:
"We haven't researched your vehicle yet, so we are unable to confirm which products fit at this time. That said, this isn’t necessarily the end of the story."

How about taking it to a local audio shop to see what options they come up with?

This is what most people need.

I love it but it would be a big job to install as I do not have the manual controls for AC and heat like you do.
