Beadlock #2 complete! Only took about 3 or 4 hours for this one.

Rear tires are back on (the 2 completed remounts) and the diff is full and sealed up. Probably take it for a run to the gas station for some gear break-in time before pulling the next two wheels off.

Damn that's a lot of bolts
35 'o dem SOB's! Takes ~15 minutes to get them all out using a 3/8 impact. :frown: Even longer to get them in since you gotta get the torque really even; Every time you tighten one, another one loosens up. Such a PITA! :skull:

It'll be worth it though. Should be like having new tires with how much more tread there will be on the outside now.

What were you doin'? Just flipping the tires on the rims?

Looks like fun!
Yes, primary reason is to flip the tires before GSMTR. Also added a second valve stem so I can check tire pressure without removing the chuck when airing up.

Update: Drove it today to start breaking in the gears. 1.5 miles to the gas station, 5 minutes stopped for gassing up, 1/4mile and 15 minutes at Dollar General, then 1.5 miles back home - never over 45mph... diff was one step below being truly hot. I knew it'd get hot, but not that fast! Glad I didn't go further on the first run.

Also have to add two things to my to-do list now: Oil change and alignment. Can't get around at Windrock too pleasantly without some semblance of an alignment - and mine is nonexistent! Lets just say that, until tonight, I've never had death wobble occur under 20mph before. :/

Today I managed to cripple my rig!!! I have been working getting it ready for GSMTR and thanks to a bolt that broke off in the aluminum thermostat housing and despite my efforts, the GD thing has apparently welded itself to the housing and after drilling most of it out, hammering, PB blaster, heat, freezer, more drilling, more heat.... I got desperate and actually started doing things that weren't smart and now I have most likely EFF'd up the housing AND what is left of the bolt is still in the GD hole!!! Now I am going to have to find another one or I won't be going anywhere....:bang::bang::bang::bang::bang:

I am going to call Sam tomorrow and see if they even still sell them or if they are disco'd. I have also PM'd a couple folks in the parting out section to see if anyone has one.

I am so eff'n p!$$'d at myself for letting this get the better of me, but after 3 days of jacking around with it my frustration won out and that mixed with a stubborn bolt and soft aluminum turned out disastrous for me.

So I will have to work around the T-stat for now and hope I can find one in time for GSMTR....

I will be there even if I have to bring the 4Runner and run the easy stuff.

Sent you a text Matthew! I've got a 3fe in the barn with a broken crank so I might have what you need!

Got it and replied to. I appreciate you checking for me. Is there anything that you don't have in that barn?

It's full of cruiser parts and rough cut lumber! If it ever burns down you will see it from space :)

Is it all laid out so it'll show up as a big Toyota emblem from space when it burns???

Yeah, but not the newer looped one, the old one that is the triangle sitting in a chevron.

Painted sliders and relocated rear diff breather to the fuel door

Finally finished my rear storage all bob Vila style!
That looks awesome; nice work!

MY UPDATE:
After two complete beadlock disassemblies with tire flips, I finally got a bit of a system worked out. Tonight I got the last two off the truck, aired down, bolts out, rings removed, tires off, rings cleaned and painted, and rims washed - all in about 2 hours.

Rear diff got its second break in run tonight; seems to be doing well. No noises or funny actions, just a whole lot of heat.
