Blew a slow-blow 80amp alternator fuse last night while winching.
- Bad news is that it was a pain to get out cause it is the one that's screwed in from underneath the fuse block.
- Good news is two things: 1) This means that my alternator really does put out some pretty good amperage like it was advertized to do and 2) This happening at home saved me from having this issue on the trail which would've likely been a serious headache.

All in all, I'm kinda glad it happened. :)

I'd give Roger right of first refusal. Not sure if he wants the business, but that's who I'd use if wants it

So he gives good hand? No wonder you spend so much time with him?

Posted from a brick.

Replaced the "nesting" cushions on my Revolver shackles and made sure they can't come off again. Had one come off on the K2 trip and it allowed my shackle to invert - not cool.

Despooled the winchline to see why it was sliding on the drum under hard pulls and [hopefully] got that resolved. While it was off I added a few short strips of tubular webbing as abrasion guards - hopefully they'll work well and not bind up anywhere.

Loaded it on the trailer and hauled it to Mardi Krawl

Anyone ever done gears before and want to give their two cents? After about 10 shots, this is as deep as I could get the teeth to mesh. Looks like a decent pattern to me. My biggest concern is that there's no gap at the top of the teeth on the drive side. From what I read, there's supposed to be a line of marking compound left at the top side indicating the teeth are meshing at the center of the ring gear, not at the top edge. However, the rest of the contact area is pretty large so I'm guessing that it'll be good anyway. Anyone know if it's bad to have that much contact area?

Finally got to reinstall the V6 rear diff with the Detroit today after many, many hours of trying to get it set up correctly. I have to give HUGE props to Zuk from gearinstalls.com; He coached me via email from looking at patterns I kept sending him. If anyone wonders about doing gears, go browse through the installs listed on his site - pretty much all Toyota diffs. That, or contact him to do it for ya; I'd bet there aren't many people out there that could set up a Toyota differential better than him. I can't wait to drive on the Detroit Locker again; I hated driving on that welded diff.

Once that was in and the rear axle reassembled, I began disassembling my beadlocks. Lemme tell ya, it was just as awful as I was predicting. Must've taken me 15 minutes to remove all the nuts and bolts from one wheel - and that was using an impact. Never did get the tire all the way off though. My tire machine won't do rims over 10" wide so I built an extension. Now it seems as though there's not enough hydraulic fluid for the piston to be strong enough to pull the bead over the lip. But you know what they say: If it ain't one thing, its somethin else!

One beadlock down, three to go. Only took me the whole day!

Well while the sliders were drying I dove into the waterpump. Took me about 4 hours.... the main hose is in a terrible location, and I broke one of the bolts that holds the thermostat housing on, so I have to try and get that out of the aluminum housing without breaking it off again.

Here is how I left it tonight. Waterpump installed with hoses loosely attached.
