We put some driveline components together. Transfer case is a '78 case with '72 gears. Engine is 350hp/350lbft 325cid LS block. Will mock up the mounts tomorrow.

I hate you.

Jim, I expect to see more pics next saturday.

swapped my ps pump today. Still have to finish buttoning it up and get a belt on there though. Went pretty well considering i have never done it before. Of course i still don't know if it works or not.

What a great day today....got off work about 4 today...went and ate icecream with the fam which cut into the wrenching but luckily I was able to get the job done....got home and started on the steering stablizer, had a pickle fork and got one side off, but the other side was a PITA....so I decided to get a deeper fork so I could get more bite....ran over to advanced and did the tool rental thing....got home and realized it would attach to my impact chisel....hooked it up and 2 seconds later it was apart....hooked up the new stabilizer, drove it back to advanced and dang I thought I was driving a brand new vehicle....such a smooth feel with the steering....if you haven't replaced your's for about 40 bucks and an hour or so your ride will be so much smoother.....Tomorrow I'm onto the 40 to get the fuel filter hooked back up and get her running....I'll post up tomorrow what I get done....have a good one guys!

Well the crud got the better of me today....flu has been going around work and I felt it coming on and today it sat my ass on the couch today.....Hopefully I can get over this asap and get to work on the 40 some this week.....so watch out I think there is a late run of the flu goin around, don't let it get you.

Replaced my 3 yr old cracked tail lens. First pic is new lens. Second pic is all the crap I had to remove in order to uninstall the old lens and install the new one. PITA if I say so myself.

Also replaced the plexi that's been in my rear quarter window (since the last OTMT at Tellico 2 yrs ago) with a factory replacement window. Despite the tiny window opening that it is, I really did miss not having a view out that back corner when backing out of parking spaces. I already moved my UC and LcLC stickers back to the new window.

I'm not going to recognize it now.

I didn't do anything to the cruiser this weekend. Though on Sat we got the in-laws to look after the kids and Becca and I got to drive the 40 around with the top off looking for tile. That was really nice. It's probably been 3 years since Becca rode in the 40.

I had a rumble in the 62 that did not really start until 50 mph,, I thought:
transmission-just topped 323k, I have had it 10 years/since 250k and am certain it has been rebuilt..
transfer-I change the fluid about every 3 years..but scared me
u joints-at least 10 years old
rear diff-replaced 3 years ago with a front
rear wheel bearings- at least 10 years old
so I jacked it up and ran it to 55, and could not hear where it was coming from,, I did forget to stop the wheels all the way before pushing it into R, but that is part of the Rodney flush right????

then I disconnected the drive shaft at the t case... when doing that, I found that all 4 bolts connecting the drive shaft to the diff were loose,, easy fix!! Rumble gone!!!

restarted work on my home brew rear bumper since I have been without any bumpers for almost 1.5 years, I did a bunch of research here on mud.. and found out my 3/4" thick shackle hangers that are welded thru the bumper and will be bolted to the frame with 6 grade 8 bolts is probably over kill...I will probably mount this to the 60 I am selling anyway and make another for my 62...out of 3x4 instead of the 4x4 I am using..

got tired of the exhaust sound coming from under the hood, so I looked, and found one brass nut was stripped and 2 were gone.. so after an exhaustive search I found the right 10m 1.25 pitch nuts, applied a liberal amount of anti seize and new nuts/washers and the sound is about 90% gone, but still have a small leak, ,, new doughnut gaskets might fix it, if not.. I get another new exhaust,,,, long story short, go with quality over price, I did the $250 new exhaust (including the new muffler) and it almost touches my gas tank, is shoddy, and my mpg has been low since,, maybe he messed up the new o2 sensors or cats.. instead of getting the $400 job which am now certain would have been nice... oh yea and one of the cats is still below the frame and the other is so high up it is making the shifter housing too hot to touch...live and learn...

I tightened the oil pan bolts, and the lower timing gear cover bolts and still have terrible oil leaks,, I dont know if the rear is the main seal or the oil pan,, front could be either, but I changed the front seal about 50-60k miles ago..

I am glad I cut the fan shroud in half years ago because this weekend I am going to pull the fan and shroud to tighten the rest of the front cover bolts.. without having to remove the radiator etc. yippee!!

next week I will pull the oil pan and change the gasket...clean the strainer and maybe plasti-gauge the crank... anyone done this before?

Had dohcdelsol help me today. We tuned up the dd. We changed the oil in the frnt/rear end, finished installing ps pump, and checked and adjusted the valves. Was a good day.
