i’ve been sick almost the entire time i’ve come back from biking in the desert. i’ve ridden once in the last 5 weeks. so instead of riding i’ll spend money on my bikes!! i wanted to try and alleviate a little hand fatigue and adjust cockpit position on my gravel bike. i have long legs compared to torso and arms so to get my seat high makes for a really long reach. i’m also 45 so my flexibility is waning.

i bought an enve gravel bar and a shorter stem with a bit more rise. started installing tonight but my headset bolts are the wrong length as i made an adjustment to my head set extension height too. so now i have to wait for a proper length bolt to show up. here’s where i am so far. i’ll play with the position a bit and then put a new wrap on.

I've got a 15* rise on my Paul stem and flat bars and it helps **immensely** on longer rides (I've had back surgery so the drop bar position is almost impossible for me).

You probably picked up some desert crud.... hope you get riding soon.

lol i have 4 kids so im sure i got it from them, not the beautiful clean desert air!

i’m starting to feel better but my energy is poor. i ran a block this morning and was winded 😞. it’ll take a while but im trying to slow life down this summer to enjoy life so that should translate into more riding again

Picked up another GT this time a Korakaram.
it has pretty good components Deore LX grouping.
going to convert it to a commuter all around bike.
maybe send it to my daughter in Chicago.

My first and second mountain bikes were GTs. First was similar to that but with a front shock and the second (after trashing the rear end of the first) was a GT LTS1 in aluminum. Nice bike, but squishy front to back.
Back in 1996-97.

did the first attempt at a drop bar wrap. i used wolf tooth bar wrap. its a little shorter that i’d like but its way nicer stuff than my old wrap so ill make it work. now just have to get my stem bolt and i’ll be ready to rock.

Decided to dive and give chain waxing a try. I've tried quite a few lubes over the years. Some were great at keeping your chain going, but collected dirt like it was nobodies business. Some wouldn't collect dirt, but didn't last long. I ride almost exclusively in dust/sand/silty trails. So my chains get some abuse.

Cleaning my old chain wasn't to bad. A little simple green bath, a little mineral spirit bath(ok 2 of those) and it is in good shape. I'm only trying it one of my bikes for now, so I'll be logging miles to see if this lasts as long as advocates say. And if anyone is interested I'll report back.

Chains can stretch over time correct?

More pieces coming together…

Nice choice in pedals! I was going with the large but went on a recent road trip and held off until I got back. Fist time I have seen anyone running with the Yoshimura. I always liked their products from my moto background.

I would be interested in seeing how it works. I don't see wax lube in the pedal bike world much. I used wax all the time in off-road moto but more for the o-ring chain. Not sure how well it would work on the MTB world.
