What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

Sounded crazy to me too, but it's just a way to get a smooth surface to aid in sealing. A few folks have done it.

I don't think it is an issue using JB Weld to smooth out the balls.

I would personally leave everything as is and let the grease leak (if it does). I mean, you only have to worry if it stops leaking grease...🤪

Ha, my only reason for considering the smoothing project is that the truck spends most of its time in the desert and I'd like to keep the knuckles as dry as possible to avoid picking up grit.

Sourcing my parts for my quad headlight mod I came across these Anzo style HL. Anybody running them? How do they perform?

Im not really sure i like how they look-but thats just opinion and not reslly relevant. As far as function no idea how bright or dim the headlights are. If they aren't bright you are kind of stuck with them. At some point somebody here will buy a pair.

Cleaned her up and re-winterized! Ohio winters are no joke, can't take any chances. Cleaned entire outside and re-coated under carriage.

When are you planning on going live?

Hopefully within the next few weeks if I get accepted.

Still trying to downsize the amount of photos I have (1800+ is a bit overkill)

Just threw together this slideshow video from back when I installed the snorkel

Busy weekend

Installed some printed bushings into my rear upper links. Old oem bushings were trashed.

Some buds came by and we all knocked out a few more things. Cabin air filter for rob. Rotated wheels, snug up wheel bearings.

Been super busy on the 95 interior. It looks and sounds absolutely incredible. I couldn’t be happier with it despite taking about 5 times longer to accomplish than anticipated.

Did the Kicker 51HS10 hideaway with a bracket I found on FB. Worked great but I had to drill custom mount holes to fit the enclosure with all 4 mount points. Decided to go ahead and put kill mat down while I was in there.

New leather kit from Mosely, the look and feel Incredible

Also did a full carpet install from stockinteriors.com
Super happy with the quality of the carpets and the mold fit great.

Ran a rear view camera while I was at it. Running the wire through the tailgate pass through was fun, then directly into the frame. Used wire wrap to make sure it lasted.

Good work!

Got my first 80 series a couple weeks ago. I wanted it so bad I got out of my perfectly dependable 16 Tacoma😅 just got her in the road. Since purchase I’ve made a 2” front coil spacer as the springs were sagging out pretty bad. New struts on the rear hatch, and replaced PS pump and high pressure hose plus reservoir cap rebuild. Still loads of leaks lol but getting there. Also through some pods on the front! Recommend some mods for me, I’m a hot rod sheet metal guy so no project too big.

I also bought that sub mount and drilling the holes was a PITA 😂

Yeah not really my style either just thought it was interesting how the headlight and corner is one assembly. I’m personally doing the quad headlight mod

Took me a few holiday weekends but I finally finished installing one of the (rear)ARB lockers I ordered BF2024
Decided to test it out at Hidden Falls. Didnt get to use it as much as I wanted but it did lock when I needed it to
Made the 500mi trip home so I guess thats a win. Now onto the front in time for Jambo

Picked up an 80 that hasn't been registered since 2022 back in October. Completely rust free Texas rig. I had to trailer it home and it wasn't running at the time, but a new fuel pump took care of that. Ended up going on vacation to Japan and getting a new house right after that, so haven't had any time to wrench on it until this past weekend.

Had a crazy amount of sludge of the knuckles so did a rebuild over the weekend. Driver's side looked like it hadn't been touched in 300k miles since new, and someone did a hack job at some point on the passenger side. They used an excess of gasket maker and some low quality bearings, and one of the trunnion bearings was busted. Ended up getting it all back together last night. Next step is tracking down and fixing all the oil leaks.

I'm also in SA, right next to Hardberger park. Will be playing some live music in Gruene this week...

Welcome to the club. I sold a perfectly rad 5th gen TRD PRO 4 runner for my 80. Zero regrets.
