Somebody get that dog hearing protection!

Replaced a bunch of the small vacuum hoses and found more hoses, cables and valves to replace that are in bad shape.

Tested my light bar on a jump pack since the wires are cut 2 feet from the bar. They actually work, and there is a switch for them installed on dash, so just have to rewire. This was a big bonus as I assumed they didn’t work since previous owner didn’t have them hooked up.

Lastly, my wheels came with some RC branded medallions on the center caps. I took them off immediately, and today replaced with ones I had done to match my license plate and key chain. I know- trinkets, but things like this make them ours, right?

Lots more to do for sure.

New tint (30% xpel ceramic), new Mickey Thompson Classic III wheels, new KO3s in 285/75r16. Not sure it is possible for the 3FE to be any slower, so no appreciable difference in acceleration compared to the 265/75 KO2s. Happy.

Also did temp splice (until new wire comes in) to oil pressure sender wire that disintegrated on drive home from the beach. Later this weekend: I’m putting on new drive shafts front and back

I bought an albright contactor for my m12000 a year (or is it 2...). Finally decided to get off my posterior and install it as incentive for some camping trips.

The original warn solenoids and an amazing number of wires to each solenoid coil. It was a good time to open up the control box, since all the sheathing on the wires from the control socket had perished.

Before going too far into the job, I installed rivnuts for the 3 small bolts that hold the cover on. Stock has those nasty little captive clips that love to fall off or rotate out of position when trying to get things all screwed down again.

Initial test fit of the albright. I wasn't happy with the position of the lugs so drilled some new holes and moved the contactor to create more space for the cables to run up to the lugs.

Labeled all the wires and the contactor to make it clear when installing where everything should go.

Final test fit and powering up the winch to verify functionality and correct in/out direction. You can see the albright has been moved further to the right of the mounting plate.

I have a marine switch isolator for the winch, so flip to on and test drive. All good and ready to install everything back in place.

I took a couple of half days to do the job right and run wires/cables nicely.

cheers,
george.

In the middle of my first steering knuckle/axle seal job, and I've noticed that the knuckles have some grooves that are deep enough to catch a finger nail.

How bad do these have to be to justify the "JB Weld & sand" procedure? I want this thing to be leak-free.

Maybe I don't know what I'm talking about, but I wouldn't put JB Weld anywhere near my axles.

Sounded crazy to me too, but it's just a way to get a smooth surface to aid in sealing. A few folks have done it.
