Would it be possible to take a pic of where the washers are supposed to be on the SPCs? I suspect the guy that installed mine may have done them incorrectly!

No problem, this is how they are supposed to go. There were washers placed on both sides of the bushing initially, not per SPC intructions.

Just depends on your caster setting. There are about 10 different configs

Not much today, but this last weekend, did rear springs, adjusted the front coil overs and an alignment. Also added a Warn Zeon 10s winch, but had to relocate an AC line and winch the control unit to get the winch to fit inside the DO bumper

Took a tough rocky 4x4 road through the back of Joshua Tree NP via Gold Crown Road to Brooklyn Mine Road to get to the OK and Sunset mines. Camped overnight at Sunset mine.

Looks like a fun spot. Spent a good amount of time in Joshua Tree but all the "off-road" has been backpacking. The drive-in camping there is a nightmare, so I'm always looking for car camping spots.

Questions: Any access issues (gates, etc.), and could stock tacoma make it (so a friend can join)?

Yeah, I like the dispersed camping in the BLM land adjacent to JTNP. The camping is more isolated in the abandoned mines and remaining structures. The Sunset Mine was just a few feet outside the JTNP boundary and all the back gates were open.

We took a difficult rocky uphill back-road through the BLM land that required 4Lo, CDL, and at least a 2" lift to get through. I think there are ways to get to the Sunset Mine from inside the park that are way easier dirt roads. I just don't know that path.

I was there on a Wednesday night, so we had the whole area to ourselves. Again, I hit medium difficulty rocky roads going in and out of the Sunset Mine through the BLM area.

Removed the factory cross bars from the roof rails. Last weekend I had the front windows tinted to match the rears.

I pretty much finished installing my rack that I designed in CAD and had cut. The crossbars are 10 series extrusion and super versatile! Paint matched to onyx black. I really liked the SSO rack and the new Prinsu wasn't out when I started , but wanted some options I didn't see available .... Mostly a lower price tag for my cheap ass! Really pleased with the end result!

I also got my black Prado beltline window molding installed. I got the parts from partsouq and was very impressed with the price and shipping speed. The install was straight forward but the rear 1/4 glass vent window had to be removed. I found info on the Aussie Prado site but no pictures so I wanted to post some here. Removal is pretty simple you just need to pull the interior window trim to access the 10mm nuts on the hinge bolts. There is a potential to drop the nuts inside the body cavity but the bolts extend pretty far to prevent that. I opted to not remove the latch side so I wouldn't drop the window by accident . The second picture is a close up of the bolt sticking through the body access hole. You'll need a deep 10mm to get it off . Pay no mind to the water bottle I have holding the trim back ...

Damn Dan, that looks good. I'm glad you went with the vinyl - not only does it look awesome, but now it won't look like we're copying you as much when we try and upgrade our own white rig.

Changed the rear diff fluid yesterday and then drove down to Big Sur for some backwoods R&R:

I like the Orca. I have a 58 Qt and love it.

That looks awesome! How did you attach the bars to the roof mounts? L brackets? How much were you able to get the parts cut for?

Also, would you mind sharing the CAD file with other fellow cheapskates? I could understand if you don't want to, though. I'm just trying to save a buck and have a contact with someone with access to a water-jet cutter.

I drew some brackets and had them cut as well, then bent those to the angle. I had to make some spacers to get it off the roof so I milled those out of plastic and fabbed some gaskets to match. I don't really like the way others rest on small spacers and I wanted to spread the load over a bigger area and increase the footprint of the seal around those bolts . I have a bit of work into the design and I was kicking around the idea of a limited production run but I need to iron some things out first . These side pieces are steel, because it was cheaper for me that way and the weight difference is small for this size of piece. Ultimately I'd like to do them in aluminum and I'm sourcing that now. I have a couple options..

I would only try to sell some if pricing could be competitive with the existing market options (ie cheaper by a bit ) , Prinsu and Southern Style off road are both making some great products from everything I've read .
Also, if you're interested let me know I may have some "seconds " in the process of honing the design :D

I rigged up a CB for a long journey I’ve got scheduled next week. I dug out my old obscure 79-290 from my prepper cage and found an easy location.

Just pull it off when not making road/off-road trips then unplug the power and unscrew the antenna to tuck them away.

I also stickered up some in case someone may spot me on the 10 hour stretch I-20 I’ll be running.

I would definitely be interested- keep us updated!

Swapping out fluids and having the AC charged today. Not blowing as cold as it should..
Threw my Rugged Ridge liners from the FJ into the GX. Not perfect but very close and in reality, good enough for what I need. Didn’t have any takers on them when I tried to sell, so might as well put them to use! And have blank to replace the air-ride controller in the console

Swapped inner CV small band with some Pfrans CV bands to stop the leaking. My boots are pretty crusty and look like theyre close to cracking. Hopefully the bands buy me some time ;). Getting my radiator, WP, thermostat and belts done later in the month.
