@FJBen I was thinking that too, maybe 2019? Unsure of the brand. The motor was on hospice when I took ownership so maybe the turbo was working overtime during its short life.

Either way, she's ripping now and I look forward to blowing my head gasket this summer.

Doing some searching looks like he put in on around May 2021.

Hospice is a very generous term in my opinion lol.

@saltycoconuts haha. it was the best way to put it when i bought it from the other dude.

One day I'll drive it over to your place so you can see how she's doing. Like an elderly gorilla seeing her zookeeper after so many years.

Ah yes, I suppose to save face I'm considered the previous, previous owner (where I did all the haphazard modifications) - but we'll blame the P.O. since he doesn't frequent Mud haha...

I think you have my cell for whenever you make it down to SD, tons of tap rooms near my place!

Cushions are being made for the back bench and back rests. Got the driver side panels powder coated and wired the small computer fan/ radiator to the thermostat. Also ran the hydronic plumbing to it. It will keep the cabin warm in cold nights.

The magnets hold the back rest. These rests will be used to turn the bench into a bed.

Thanks @orikawa for this amazing work you do!!!

Started mocking up my new tire carrier. I’m changing this from the stock mount for a couple reasons; 1. When I install the Truck Vault bed drawers, I wanted to optimize drawer length and 2. I wanted to have an easier way to pull the tire either side. This will become more apparent once the drawers are installed.

What's the general consensus on where to stop on upgrades to the 1KZ, so far I'm at 10 blade fan, EGR delete, FMIC, pyrometer gauges, exhaust, next is boost controller, is upgrading the turbo something people do? What is the end point from the performance point of view?

@preveng I have a 95 Prado and here are my upgrades. I feel as though it’s pretty peppy but also wanted to keep Egt’s as low as possible. It’s my road trip car on 33’s with zero issues. I adjusted the fuel screw on it but honestly didn’t see any difference so I put it back.

3” exhaust
Front mount intercooler
Egr delete
Butterfly delete
Boost controller
Boost gauge
Egt gauge

I feel as though the stock turbo is plenty on this motor.

Oil change (easy) but also changed burned out bulbs on dash, total pain in the ass to get to ..but done...new brakes all around (thanks AJ), new BF

If you’re wondering if a 50 gallon water heater fits in a mwb…the answer is “kinda”View attachment 4098182
You can always extend it to a troopy. Everything is possible. Wire harness would be the last thing…😂

Then, it would fit for sure.

Labeled some of the 77's gauges and the new remote transmission cooler fan switch because I'm a complete idiot, confused easily and very forgetful.

Good to drive her again today and over the weekend! Took three lazy garage weekends to bend hard lines and get that cooler in how I wanted it. Working a champ so far in the winter, sans pulling a trailer and not climbing any passes.

Noticed the belt squealing when the A/C compressor clutch engages/disengages; I replaced all 3 belts with spares (still have another spare set) since these were the original belts that were on the truck when I bought it back in 2017.
Every time I travel to the PI; I need to catch up on some maintenance.
After performing some maintenance on the truck here in the Philippines; I decided it was time to install the MagSafe phone charger to make phone charging easier while driving.
I used a 12V cigarette lighter adapter with a USB B & C port; the C port was for the MagSafe and the B port was for passengers.

My attempt at a @FJBen photo. 😊
