What went on this weekend?

I shared directions to a few members about where to get away for the weekend and a few inquiring about weekend runs and outings. Sorry I could not make any outings my latest project took too much of my time.:frown: But my slate is now clear and Im ready for the next adventure.

Post up pictures of your weekend.

Broke down in albuquerque in my 100. Have to fly up Friday to pick her up and drive home.

Ill take the bait.........what happen?

Fan bracket pulley s*** the bed as in seized. Gave no warning, was fine one sec then seized the next. Bought a new belt hoping that I just broke a belt. Put it on and it sounded like the fan was loaping/ loeping not sure how to spell it. Broke second belt 10 miles after install. Had it towed to American Toyota in Albuquerque and left it over night and drove 5 1/2 hours back to Phoenix in rental car. Got in at 5:30 this morning. Dealer calls and says yep its the fan pulley and the idler pulley has play in it as well as the tension pulley so its getting three new pulleys installed and my wallet is lighter $882.00. I will say that when I put the new belt on I could feel the play in the idler pulley. Guess they just wore out. I have around 180,000 miles on my 100 now. So I am flying in Friday morning and picking her up and driving home. I guess I will replace the rest of the pulleys along with the fan clutch and the radiator sooner than later.

As PM I would suggest replacing all the pulleys if your truck is high mileage as they are mission critical to getting home.

I would also like to note that this whole experience has made me appreciate murf and Camelback Toyota even more. He gives us great deals and keeps us in the loop about what ever is happening with our rigs why they are there. The service guy just called me once today from Albuquerque and informed that I was right about my suspicion and that they would get the parts ordered and that he would see me Friday. No I will call you with updates or anything like that.

Veeeeeery convenient...

Did some camping up near Williams off of Devil Dog Rd.

It was a very good time! Cool weather, good group of people.

I am pretty sure it was the longest (time) and furthest (distance) trip I have taken with my Cruiser since getting it almost a year and a half ago.

Rob that is one of the funniest things I have seen in awhile.

It was just me and the wife, she handled the whole thing like a real trooper.

By the way when did you get an 04 hundy? Just noticed your sig line.

I picked up a new LC...

I picked up a new LC...

Unibody (bed and cab one piece) Ford F100? :grinpimp:

Oh and I'll play... went and watched my son in his first cross country meet of the season. Then rearranged the garage to allow the termite guy access for drilling about 1,000 holes in my driveway, patios. etc.

Nice lx470

Picked it up a few weeks ago off of CL here in town.

Sweet! That was a good deal and didn't last long!

Prices on 100's seem to have dropped pretty dramatically in the last few weeks/months, whereas they seemed to have been pretty stable over the last few years. Lots of '98-'01 trucks now in the sub 10K range, and the '03-'04's are starting to be in the sub 16K range. Seemed like '03+ was pegged at $20K forever...

Oh, and over the weekend I cleaned the leather, de-gunked the evaporator and squirrel cage fan, and removed the stickers, lubed the window tracks, and got rid of an annoying rear door squeak...

I would really like to find a bare bones 06 without nav and ahc. They seem unobtanium.

I thought the same thing for a while. But after having the nav in the '04, and putting a nav/DVD/BT/XM/rev camera system in my '00, it's way worth having. If you're gonna install one yourself, you're gonna drop a grand+ to get close to the OEM capabilities. Just put that grand in your MFD refurb fund IF the day ever comes. AHC is easy to replace with OME or stock for cheap to free. They are out there, mostly '05's that I've seen. They pop up on Autotrader from time to time, but there is no easy search criteria for them. You have to look a pic's. The ones I've seen have all been grey, with grey leather, strangely enough, and usually in the midwest wihich is a deal-killer for me due to rust. If you're wanting the VVT, I can't comment on the improvement of it. But the 5 speed is enough of an upgrade to make the '03-'05's worth it...

TPMS Saved My Life on Labor Day

Labor Day weekend was a whirlwind - camping outside of Hatch, NM on Friday, picked up two sacks of Hatch Chili and drove to my Mom's in Albuquerque, camped in the Gila Forest outside of Reserve, NM on Sunday, and almost died on Monday coming into Tucson.

I was a half mile from Tucson when my tire pressure monitor in my Tacoma started beeping rapidly and I watched in amazement as the pressure reading for the front driver's side tire dropped from 36 psi to 12 psi in a matter of seconds.

I was able to get off I10 onto the shoulder without incident and got out to look at the tire. It still had air in it and the TPMS read 8.8 PSI and I thought I could limp to the next off ramp to change it out, but it lost all air in about 50 feet.

The tire failed at 77 MPH and never made any noise, there was no vibration or any indication it had failed. I believe if I hadn't pulled over right away when the alarm went off I would have crashed when the rubber came off the rim!

Think I'll get some new shoes this weekend . . .

Reason for TPMS.webp

That looks like a pretty serious failure. Be interesting to find out what caused it. Looks like a casing failure plus that radial crack from the rim to the tread... weird.

Also, your Tacoma TPMS shows individual tire pressures? Please elaborate on this.

I wonder if it is the same TPMS system he has in his 40? It is an impressive aftermarket system
