I just got done doing a fresh rebuild on my 79 2f. Realized i put in a toyota orange coolant. Should it be green or does it really matter? I know some engines are temperamental.

thanks,

I've always used the green regulat coolant, but thats just because I'm cheap and she leaks....

I don't think colour has anything to do with quality as far as coolant is concerned.

The important things are:
  • Who makes it (which determines whether the label data can be trusted),
  • What chemicals it is composed of,
  • What concentration you're using it at (in relation to the water that's usually mixed in with it)
  • Whether the water you've mixed in with it is contaminated with unwanted stuff or not.

Green. Red if you're running an Alum rad, but otherwise good brand green.

2Fs are not. Does it freeze where you live? I used plain old water for many years, before moving to Denver.
