FWIW, my '10 has BT streaming audio

Is there any way to know from just physically looking at any of buttons on the steering wheel or console area etc. that would help immensely in finding one from internet pictures. I am trying to shortlist one using online portals. Thanks in advance.

Can you please elaborate on this and how did you find out or verify this fact. I thought the leather seats in the 2013+models were more durable than the vinyl seats. Thanks in advance.

I believe there were posts showing issues to the leather and wear after 100k miles and it not looking new. Whereas my LC with 250k miles seats still look new. No one can guess my car has more than 60k miles on it (some have guessed 30k miles).

Thank you for sharing this will definitely be one of my considerations while shortlisting. Other parts that I know which require attention (not specific to any year rather common for 200 series as specified in the forum) are radiator leaks, water pump and somewhat lower rate of failure- front climate system blower motor, air-con condenser, front defroster, starter at around 200k Miles. I dont know whether radiator design was changed moving upto the 2016 update but I was compiling a list of items to look out for while narrowing down my seach.

But that old itch came back again strong now. :)) I was going to buy a new Cruiser and I realized I didn't want a new one......I want to own one vehicle that I am not going to worry about scratches and nicks and small dents with. My other vehicles are high dollar machines and you worry about some dummy keying it. Or bumping a curb and ruining a $2500 dollar wheel.

It also seemed nuts to buy a new one because I want different bumpers, a winch, a lift, and bigger tires..

Sounds like you’ve got a lot of money to burn. You’ve come to the right place!

Biggest thing to look for is lack of rust. Watch the underbody the rest is luck of the draw type issues. Find the color combo you want and the one with least rust.

Any specific rust areas/spots to look out for in the 2009-2011 models in your experience. I know from 100 series experience to look out for the passenger side sway bar mount from the ac drain drip. and the wheel arches where debris accumulates as well as the tailgate drain holes. Thanks is advance.

just the underbody and you can check the trunk under the plastic trim. That's a growth spot. If I'm buying a LC I would consider shipping it from a state that did not have salt on the streets.

Save as much as money as possible so you can upgrade suspension, change LED headlights, change wheels/tires, change interior bulbs, tint all windows, wind deflectors, sliders. I put a push bar and a rear chin bar to stop minor fender benders (I like going high speeds so I didn't go with bull bar). If you want you can put 3m protection film on the paint or wait and put on a wrap.

Thank you for the advice, really appreciate it. Did you use any conditioner like leatherique or leather honey or some spray coats like QP-ON 2.0 on the seats to preserve their condition. That is one of the things I like about the pre 2013 model is the absence of pores on the seats. I can imagine clogging them using any kind of conditioner or ceramic coating which would prevent conditioning them in the first place.

I never conditioned the seats as long as I had them 150k miles. I did put a tint on my windshield this year which I think is the best method to preserve them but mine currently don't have any damage I can see.

Closest place to NY I've found was North Carolina/Virginia area with no salt around the highways. The shipping rate was around $750-800. California was around $2k shipping FYI.

Not crazy about the 20" wheels. Would like a little beef. Can you go 18"? Any pros & cons for either size?

Currently lookin at 2016 b/c of new grill. May try to look at some years on the LX570 later.

2008-2011 are the best years for land cruisers IMHO. The vinyl seats are the most durable, my seats have 150k miles and still look brand new - plus very easy to clean. As someone who loves high quality leather I never thought I would advocate vinyl over leather. There are three features I did wish my 2009 had: Rain sensing wipers (added in 2010), HID lights (although my lights aren't bad), and 360 degree view when parking the car. I think newer land cruisers 2011 have UV windshields which is a very nice option. The stock windshield makes me feel like an ant under a magnifying glass.

I originally wanted ventilated cooling seats (2013+) but seeing how the leather holds up has me turned off from them. Personally I hate the chrome strips on 2013+ vehicles. It looks soo much nicer in 2008-2011 form. The one must have upgrade is the RW wheels with KO2 tires. Make sure you budget for that. Stay away from 2016+ land cruisers with 8 speed transmissions as they are known to be problematic and may affect longevity of the vehicle.
Your advice about staying away from 16+ due to the 8-speed transmission is a load of crap. If your going to make a statement like that you need to back it up with data and facts. There is nothing wrong with any model year 200 and there is definitely no issue with the 8-speed transmmission in the16-21. They are NOT know to be "problematic".

My opinion has changed. I dont advise against the 8 speed transmission. Back in 2016 there were a few mudders who posted issues here but its not as bad as it sounded initially. Consider that comment stricken.

Just make sure the transmission TSB has been done properly, this post helps I love my 2016 8 speed tranny with TSB 0209-17
