Working on one of these at the moment. Went to the brewery over the holidays and picked some up. Quite yummy.

I finished up the lamp I have been fabricating. It is mostly made from scrap air-cooled Volkswagen parts. The base is a pressure plate from a clutch with a swing axle transmission side gear to house the switch. Two engine cylinders make up the body of the lamp with tubes spacing them apart. Then I added a piece of perforated sheet to the top and the cloth cord, illuminated push button switch, light socket, LED filament bulb, and wiring.

Looks like they need a new tank or a new nose to the tank
yeah we're going to take the tank back to the shop and make a new cone for it, then put it back on its legs.

Two cranes or just both lines on a single for the pick & turn? Cool either way - what’s the tank weight empty like that?

One machine, two wires.
5200.

I thought I would take a shot about removing scratches from glass. I do not recommend this at all. If you are able replace it with new.

Yeah, I’ve done that successfully for headlights, and I tried it on the 40 windshield, but I’m with ya brother. Getting big areas to come out clear is a bear.

I'm so far down the rabbit hole I feel obligated to see it through.

Brian, I want to know when your going to get one that can't be restored. Will you chop one up and build a hard core trail rig?
I don't have that skill set

Making some more progress on my English Wheel. I figured out what I wanted to do for the legs, set the working height I wanted, worked up some patterns, and cut the steel. Next steps are to making mounting plates so the legs will bolt to the frame and also feet for the legs.

Got the rear end apart without much drama. Axle shafts appear fine. Gear set is obviously toast, and the carrier took a beating when the pinion let go. It’s junk. The locker came apart fine, and overall may be ok. However a few of the teeth look a little scarred / scratched and I’m not thrilled how it worked overall. Was a little too notchy and abrupt. The other lock-rites I’ve had were similar, not the smoothest of things. It’s probably getting replaced by a spartan locker, and will go in my trail spare 3rd.

I may throw an open 3rd in there for now, and put the spartan in when I get it. With the c-clip rear, it needs to be assembled in place anyway.
