Oh damn! That sucks!
I am going to bring home my thread file from work and try to clean it up again, I was frustrated last night. I have more new nuts. I also am going to put the old crush sleeve in with a small shim. It looks like it still has some crush left to it and should work. If that does not work, I will order a new gear set. I will call and see if they will warranty this one. I would buy a die if I thought it would cut the threads, but as hard as they may be, I am not sure. I would hate to have to go through all the set up again. But if that has to happen, it will.

Oh well, I am off to work, have to tow a car down to Yorktown and try to get back before the snow builds up too much as it is snowing now!

Bummer for sure

Late notice but I'm on my own watching autumn tonight around 630 and going to watch the USA Canada hockey game starting at 8 so if anyone wants to come over I've got banquets and we could watch or mess around in shop on breaks.

Thanks to @Beach80 for letting me borrow a 20 1.5 die to clean the threads up. Problem was the diameter was .030 smaller where it stripped the pinion nut.

I pulled it all down. Installed new ring and pinion and reset everything. Pinion shim stayed the same but backlash moved two shim numbers, about .006..

Pattern looks good. Toyota crush sleeve worked perfect! Both 3rds are ready to install @davidp14 .

I am going to start on my Labs rear bumper and get ready for Sunday School. :)

Hot dog!! I got my new OEM pump in last night ( in the dark, and. I can do it with my eyes closed now) I took her for a short drive and there was no hesitation. And it started up again several times afterwards. Finger crossed it's fixed.

New gears next and maybe some new bushings in the rear control arms. Things are going to really start moving along soon....I hope.

got the 80 cleaned out. moved the transfer case that had been living in there since fall crawl out of there finally. Drover her about 60 or so miles with no issues and pressure washed the chassis for gear swap day on Saturday!
Awesome ! I know you are relieved

Will post after pics when I can but spent about 5 hours cleaning and scrubbing the LS, Toyota transfer case, and engine bay Area last night. Lotta nasty stuff. Got water in the cylinders which scared me. I vacuumed what I could out, put oil down next, and then cranked it over a bunch to blow out anything left. Finished it all off w some wd40 in the spark plug holes and I'm hoping no rust !! Also removed the old manifolds and the new ones arrived in the mail! This weekend hoping to rebuild the transfer case and install the advanced adapter onto the tail of the 4l60e
