Went out in the shop early today and wrapped up the front diff. Crush sleeve about killed me! Had to put a pipe on Snap On breaker bar to get it to turn and watched it bend like a bananna. It is now ready to run.

you planning a trip to RVA to pick up pump? If so when do you plan to install it?
i ended up getting it from partsouq. turns out I don't have time this weekend to go to RVA and it was a little cheaper from PS. It should be here monday. I'm prretty much an expert at installing fuel pumps in 80s now so I should be able to get it done in about 15mins :D

Good deal. Was going to offer to bring it up to you and “help” I mean heckle 😉

Started on the rear third today. @Beach80 stopped by and helped with some grunt work and cleaning. Ran two patterns and still not good. Did not get lucky with factory shim like the front. I will get back at it Sunday.

I got busy with work but had a chance to get a few patterns. I am getting close. I need to add about another .005 to the pinion shim stack to center the pattern a little better on the drive side.

Sorry @davidp14 i got the pattern good. Tried to set pinion preload with crush sleeve. Broke my Snap On ratched and my Craftsman breaker bar. I will grab my other Snap On ratchet from work and my 3/4 drive breaker bar. And hope that will do it! I have about 1/8 more to tighten.

Damn! Sorry to case so many casualties.
I have broken the Snap On one at least 3 times setting crush sleeves. At least one more trying to get lug nuts off a 6500 truck. I should have used the 1" impact!

Snap on warranty the tool?!

Officially lost the battle tonight! Icon 36" 3/4 breaker bar for the win!

I stripped the nut out. Spent a while chasing threads and thought I was good. Stripped two more nuts. Going to need a new gear set now.

Crush sleeve was not going to crush anymore. Thinking it was too big. It is the brighter one next to the old one.

Uugh!
