View attachment 3749747Got half of my interior back together yesterday. All that’s left is hooking up some power wires and putting the door cards back on. I’ll worry about the rest later. Also @Beach80 came over in the AM and helped me troubleshoot my CDL not engaging

Ruled out the CDL button on the dash as well as the relay and motor not working in the actuator.

With the tcase in neutral, pressing the CDL button actuates the motor and it audibly is moving but spinning one of the front tires confirms the CDL doesn’t engage.

Jumping the pins for the low range switch on the tcase, same thing. You can hear it actuate but no lock.

The CDL light on the dash does come on if you jump the pins for wire to the CDL activation switch on the tcase but not otherwise. Not really sure what the issue could be.

I think to start I need to replace the three button switches tcase to rule those out since they’re all super rusty and two of them have destroyed connectors. The top one is easy, the other two not so much without the tcase tilted down…

If those don’t fix it I assume the actuator needs to come out to see what’s going on
Oh, and you have two and a half weeks :)

Well it was going well until ... stupidly put it in the vice a bad way to try and undo the 12 bolts. They were very tight and it slipped out of the vice. Figured out a much better and smarter way to secure now.... thankfully I can just get this bearing and press it back on and we'll be back in business

got the rest of the gears separated. Good stopping point tonight. next day I will press all back together and clearance case and then maybe one more day reinstalling and cleaning everything.

Have someone help hold it, or put in press with wood to hold it in place to torque bolts down. Luckily you did not mess up the gears.

This page helped me with my CDL issues.

I read through this and its pointing to the actuator being stuck with old grease.

I ordered a new neutral position switch from Ourisman (easiest to change) and I already have the two replacements for the L4 and CDL switches. I'm getting Rob's cut down wrench from Charles to try and change those before Saturday to see if that does anything 🤞.

If not then looks like the actuator needs to come out and maybe my buddy will let me put it on the lift for some help 😎

Be sure to replace the race as well, that might be fun!

Took an ammo can and made a console for tue 40. Cup holders on order and will paint it once I have all the parts/pieces.

Got the gears fully installed and went on a successful test drive!! CDL works properly and low range and high range operating and shifting smoothly. Man that was a job...really would not want to do that again and if I did I think I would drop the full case. Tight clearances reaching up to the shift linkage with two hands almost had me giving up lol.
Thank you @Land Shark for help in testing everything and for the needed moral support. And thanks to @Toyodajunkie and @matzell for the advice going into it and through it. Love the team effort and impressed with our club that we've now done 5 sets of these combined!
Can't wait to really put these gears to the test at fall crawl!!

So much easier on the lift! :) Good teamwork all around.

I got the old rod end out. How to break out the "cat fish". 7" angle grinder! Now to weld in some weld washer to repair the wollowed out hole and install new end.

“Helped” Rob get his truck ready for fall crawl then he was kind enough to put my truck on the lift and diagnose why my CDL didn’t work. Also found out I needed a tie rod. I’ll be all set for fall crawl in a week

The motor wasn’t turned all of the way to lock or unlock somehow when it was put in AKA not in sync. Rob hooked it to power and it turned another 1/4-1/2 turn out of the truck and now the CDL works like a charm. Button and low range both turned it on no problem when I tested it yesterday

“Timed” I think is the right word here
