Couple things happened today before getting pulled off. Disassembly time Rob posted was pretty spot on even being on your back.

@Toyodajunkie This is going to be a whole new beast! Looking forward to fall crawl and seeing it in action.
Got some initial progress done on the drawer and started gathering hardware and prepping the rack for the awning install.

Get them to tell you the ID of the tube, go to: 4130 Chrome Moly - Chromoly Tubing - https://www.stockcarsteel.com/alloy/4130-chrome-moly-tube?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw3vO3BhCqARIsAEWblcCdHx9GRBJWHx5ccRfm14ZRUYha6IOuqKi1fQIMnP79rj6Yua37wIEaAnYwEALw_wcB

buy it by the inch or foot and have them ship it to JDS. He will make it out of DOM for you .120 should be fine. He does not stock DOM but you can supply it for them. STS will ship directly to them. Usually about 2 days out and can only ship up to 6', I think

You may not need it for the front shaft as much as the rear shaft if you replace that one.

With Rob’s help pressing on gears and some encouragement from Alan. Got my low range gears all squared away and installed this morning.

Keep an eye on your speed sensor after reinstalling, mine started leaking. I had to install a new o-ring.

Mine is also leaking

Thanks for the heads up and I’ll keep an eye out on it. I replaced it a couple years ago so hoping it’s good. Didn’t really think about a new one.

did some work on the drawer. Figured out mounting location and got all hardware set up. This extrusion / tnut setup is cool but lots of planning has to go into it as the tnuts have to slide in before connecting the corners. Also got light bar mounted. Need to work on wiring now.

Very temped with this sale to buy the bucket and convert my 80 to round headlights. 7" round LEDs are everywhere and cheap...

Superbrightleds.com has high quality led bulbs that work in the factory housing and have the appropriate cutoff. I installed them in both of my previous 80’s.

Got half of my interior back together yesterday. All that’s left is hooking up some power wires and putting the door cards back on. I’ll worry about the rest later. Also @Beach80 came over in the AM and helped me troubleshoot my CDL not engaging

Ruled out the CDL button on the dash as well as the relay and motor not working in the actuator.

With the tcase in neutral, pressing the CDL button actuates the motor and it audibly is moving but spinning one of the front tires confirms the CDL doesn’t engage.

Jumping the pins for the low range switch on the tcase, same thing. You can hear it actuate but no lock.

The CDL light on the dash does come on if you jump the pins for wire to the CDL activation switch on the tcase but not otherwise. Not really sure what the issue could be.

I think to start I need to replace the three button switches tcase to rule those out since they’re all super rusty and two of them have destroyed connectors. The top one is easy, the other two not so much without the tcase tilted down…

If those don’t fix it I assume the actuator needs to come out to see what’s going on

This page helped me with my CDL issues.

Well, you did put it back together! lol.

No really, if the motor is making noise, then it sounds like it is working. did you spin one tire with the other on the ground?

You can pull the switch and push the ball in with it plugged in and see if it lights the light. IF so then it works. Actuator may not be pushing sleeve over enough to activate it.
