Got the front half of a new suspension done today before we ran short of daylight… And re-did the failing clutch hydraulics a few weeks ago (no pics on that project, but @matzell you’ll see my brake line bending “skills”before too long i’m sure).

Beautiful 60! @RICVirginiaHJ61

Also anyone have gears done in the Richmond area or conquered this on their own? Starting to look at some low range transfer case gears and it seems like a process to either do with a buddy that wants to do it at the same time and split tool costs or just take it to a shop to get done.

I pulled my transfer case (93 HDJ81) with a friend in my driveway. Then had Iron Pig in Fredericksburg install my 3.11 low range gears, 10% underdrive gear and xfer case rebuild kit from CruiserOutfitters. I went this route because cost of needed tools was getting close to the cost of paying Iron Pig. Also warranty reasons. While they were doing my xfer case, I installed a new valve body in my transmission and did my BEBS.

Good to know. I have a small leak at the input seal as well so might be a good idea to just pull it and drive it up there. I've worked with lance before and he was great but was hoping for something a little bit closer. That traffic ruins the 60 mile drive

I can think of 3 people in the club not including you who will be doing them shortly. Come to the meetings

Just got some myself and haven’t decided where it will get done just yet. Doesn’t look to complicated, so will probably pull transfer case and take it to someone’s garage that has a press. But I wouldn’t mind owning a press either

But like Ed said a few of us are looking to get it done soonish. (After Christmas for me) Come to a meeting so we can figure it out.

I wont be able to make the meeting next week but will try and be there for the one in January. I think it would be really doable as long as two or more people are present for morale and different points of view/quality control.

maybe the next tech day, I can pull a 80 case and we can do it on the bench. I know it can be done in the vehicle but this way everyone can see how it all works.

Just an idea?

I got a few hours in today. Finished metal work , added a skim coat and waiting for that to set up.

While waiting pulled the damaged radiator and used 6 cans of brake clean to attempt to clean the front of the engine. All the hoses and belts are soft so I plan to replace them. May do the water pump while here. I plan to swap the engine at some point, but for now want to make sure it is reliable. I also found a blue fan clutch in my stash...
